What was the gray stuff used on the seams of the subfloor? I don't want the subfloor seams to show through the sheet vinyl but don't know what to use.

Dap makes a product called a flexible floor patch. It is premixed and applies like spackle. It dries quickly.

Goodness, temporarily moving the toilet seems way easier than cutting around it.

They also messed up by caulking around the entire toilet. You're only supposed to caulk the front & sides, leaving the back uncaulked so you can see if the seal leaks.

Please don't lay flooring around the fixtures! I know it's a hassle to remove the toilet and sink but you will end up with a far more professional job.
