Omg my frenchie just had IVDD surgery - the pain he went through was unbearable and i literally have PTSD, as the pain and cries he was in was bringing me to tears. We took him to a neurologist in Miami & MRI confirmed it was a slipped disk. Post opp 2 weeks but he’s now going through the heavy medication withdrawal. Very scary but it seems like you’re on the road to recovery. The pain still haunts me to this day & I never want to go through that again. Hugs to ur sweet pup ❤ & she’s lucky to have such caring parents!! Yes, no jumping and rough play any longer.

TO PREVENT IVDD use only a harness Avoid all Tug-a-war games Avoid jumping from furniture (sofa, bed) Avoid stairs. Avoid any injury. Pick up from below the body never by arms. Let them sleep on memory foam mattress, latex or talalay To avoid spine pressure while sleeping As soon as you see any signs of IVDD Immediately see a Vet -OR- crate them for 6+ weeks. Only let out to do business. They also have a back brace that can be worn during this time. If in pain have vet examine your dog. The vet may prescribe steroids prednisone, Gabapentin or a muscle relaxer. Do not rush to euthanize your dog please get A 2nd and even a 3rd opinion. Your dog looks great. Thank you for all the information.

Thank you so much for watching. I'm glad you found it helpful. We have taken a proactive approach to preventing joint and IVDD concerns in our Frenchie since she was 2 years old. It includes many of the things you mention, plus exercise, and targeted supplementation. I honestly believe all of the preventative measures that we took the past 6 years have contributed to the fact that her IVDD injury was very mild and non-surgical. A lot of people think there's no way to prevent IVDD, but in fact there is so much that can be done to help prevent IVDD and help reduce the risk of surgery.

Your list is good advice but it does not "prevent IVDD" in breeds that have genes that result in weak connective tissues that form the discs. These measures will delay acute injury but will not prevent the ongoing degradation of the discs with aging. Not trying to be negative but just want owners to have the information they need to make the tough financial/medical decisions down the road. For example, all toy sized dogs should be trained not to jump off the bed as even dogs without these genes can be acutely injured. I would add the following to the list for healthy disc and joints for all dogs: 1) Do not de-sex your dog or at least delay it by 3 years. (much more difficult to leave a female dog intact so usually best to delay de-sexing but male dogs can be left intact-- All the bad things we have been told about intact male dogs are exaggerated and/or propaganda by the AVMA). De-sexing causes and/or exacerbates joint and skeletal problems. 2) Do not feed kibble-- Kibble is not species appropriate and will condemn your dog to poor health down the road. Feed a human grade, high protein, balanced raw or gently cooked fresh diet. 3) Walk your dog with a harness daily so that all his joints and discs get oxygenated blood flow and his muscles stay toned. 4) Research the breeder before buying a puppy. Easier said than done. Try to get references so you can talk with owners who have dogs from the breeder to try to determine if the adults have genetically caused health problems. 5) Absolutely give supplements that provide the building blocks for healthy joints and don't wait until your dog is a senior. A raw, prey model diet already supplies all this nutrition but it does not hurt to boost. Certainly a kibble fed dog is nutrient deficient. VetriScience "Disc" is a really great supplement in addition to the supplements recommended in this video.

@@treasuretrovel3816 in dogs that it’s genetic it will continue to keep happening even after surgery or multiple surgeries. That’s the sad truth. Unfortunately, there is no definitive long term treatment for dogs predisposed to genetic IVDD.

My 3 year old frenchie/baby started shaking and not moving 2 nights ago. Took her yesterday to vet and yes they said possible spinal injury and gave her dex shot/gabapentin/prednisone and said bed rest and only out to pee. Follow up is Friday. I am devastated and have this sad depressing feeling all day. I’m doing everything I can. He walks very slow and wants to sleep with me in bed. Makes me really sad. Hope he gets over this. Also he was on strict bed rest for at least a week. I really try to get him not to walk on it but it can be hard. But he has made such a large turnaround. I still pick him up to get on my bed or to go up the stairs. Sometimes I miss him doing it but 90% of the time I do. Thank you so much for sharing. There is definitely so much that can be done to help prevent IVDD from happening. French Bulldogs are also very prone to IVDD, however, we have been able to prevent this for the past 7 years, and when she did have her injury, it was very mild. I definitely think it's because of all the preventative measures we took the past years. Here are some of the aspects that worked well for us: - We make sure she gets lots of joint-friendly exercise - Keeping our dog at perfect weight where we can easily feel her ribs - No jumping - Preventative natural supplements: pawdega.us/products/joint-support-bundle-standard - Feed Bone Broth - Feeding a low-inflammatory, raw meat diet - Using the correct harness You can also start Red Light Therapy to help prevent IVDD. This is the device that we use now: shop.photonichealth.com/collections/essential-line-pad-system/products/essential-line-essential-pad?ref=ivV7b9zn3wMB_S Wishing you and your dog all the best!

Care giver for an 11 1/2 year old Great Dane "MINI" She has Spondylosis/ Spinal Stenosis/OA. She has always been hyperactive. My biggest problem now is to keep her from going Jiggy on me and re injuring her self. Jiggy -- you know the classic Great Dane Happy Dance. Right now she is lame on the right rear -- it appears to be neurological -- appears to be sciatica. She went gone down recently with what appeared to be a muscle spasm. Huge lump formed quickly and went away as fast! So now her butt is in a sling. I have removed the prong collar and am using a halter so I have two handles to lift or control her. A whole new way of walking! Mini had a bout with bladder stones and was on a Struvite control diet and now maintenance diet for well over six months. Those diets reduce or eliminate magnesium. I just got some magnesium today on a hunch and some Arnica! Anyway, I really appreciate your approach and value the information you provided. Thanks Kristine & Mini

The same thing happened to my Frenchie on Sunday. She lost motion of all her legs 😞. She was in bad pain for like two days. The vet told me it was her disc and will require surgery. Honestly it's too expensive for me as they are asking for 15k. Today she was much better. She ate, she cant move but she was able to do her needs on her own. Saw my other dog playing with a toy and started hating so thats a good sign lol. Honestly I'm going to give her time to heal. (Highly recommend buying a dog crate so they wont move) and see how she does. Today gave me hope. How's your dog doing?

@@erickmoran8134 I'm sorry to hear about this, but I am happy that you already see improvement after a few days. I understand the desire to 'wait and see'. However, if I may suggest something? Right now is the best time to start doing a few natural things to support the healing journey naturally. If you want to have the best chance of preventing a surgery, then we have to actively support our dogs in their healing journey rather than sit and wait. Actively supporting the healing journey will look different for everyone. For us, it was a multi-faceted approach including all the things mentioned in the video. However, you can also start with some natural joint-supporting supplements, CBD, or natural anti-inflammatories. We created an IVDD support bundle (pawdega.us/products/ivdd-bundle) to support pet parents in their natural support, but you can also select the ones that best fit your dog and your budget. Let me know if you have any questions. For our dog, the Injury was over a year ago, and she has not had a relapse. She is healthy and agile. I wish you and your dog the absolute best and hope she recovers soon.

Thank you so much for getting in touch with us about this. I know how important it is to ensure your dog does not consume any products that could interact with the medication you are giving. The wonderful thing about the products that have been recommended is that they are truly natural, very gentle, and yet so effective. Since they don’t contain any synthetics or filler ingredients, they are recognized by the body as nutrition, and generally speaking, our products can be used with most medications. However, for liability reasons, I won’t be able to give a definitive answer regarding the specific medication your pet is on or may take. You can refer to the full ingredient list of the products on our product pages to determine if they are safe for your dog to use. If you have any concerns, I highly recommend consulting with a holistic veterinarian for guidance on combining medication with supplements. You can also start using the supplements and remedies that we've talked about in this video as soon as possible. Our dog was not paralyzed, but we had amazing results with these natural solutions. I will list the products for you below, and if you can start with the red light device (linked below) as well, that's an extra layer of support too. Let me know if you have any questions. ❤️ THE REDLIGHT THERAPY DEVICE WE USED: ⭐ Essential Back Pad (use code PAWDEGA for $25 off orders above $200): bit.ly/Essentialbackpad ❤️ NATURAL FIRST AID REMEDIES WE USED: ⭐ Your Go 2: bit.ly/yourgo2 ⭐ Jump For Joynts: bit.ly/jumpforjoynts ⭐ Herbaprin: bit.ly/Herbaprin ⭐ Inflapotion: bit.ly/Inflapotion ⭐ CBD Dog Health Tips: bit.ly/3OrDBtG ❤️ NATURAL FUNCTIONAL SUPPLEMENTS WE USED: ⭐ Potent-Sea Algae Oil: bit.ly/Potentsea ⭐ Healthy Hip + Joint: bit.ly/healthyhipandjoint ⭐ Elk Antler Powder: pawdega.com/products/elk-antler-sprinkles ⭐ Healthy Calm: pawdega.com/products/organic-healthy-calm Please note this information is for informational purposes only and does not substitute professional veterinary advice.

💠💠I do know the prescription meds are toxic to the liver and kidneys so I am looking into these products. 💠💠 Does your dog use any type of orthopedic dog bed or cot? I have a German Shepherd with IVDD. She started having paralysis in hind legs 2 weeks ago. She has improved mobility in back right and wants to potty alone. Good dog food is important. I use a mix of freeze dried raw and I boil a lot of organic chicken and turkey mixed with plain Organic rice and I make a bone broth.

Yes we do have an orthopedic dog bed for her as well. The supplements we've mentioned in this video will be a great addition to your dog's support. Have you tried red light therapy for your Shepherd? I think it helped our dog and we still use it to help prevent injuries in the future. We got this one: bit.ly/Essentialbackpad

Thanks! If you had listened to the whole video, you would have known that our dog was on strict bedrest for 2 weeks and on very limited and short walks after the 2 weeks, with the permission of our physiotherapist.

I have to say I agree with that. Each case is individual in its severity. I don't think this type of treatment, without meds and possible surgery, would work for a more advanced injury.

Thank you so much for your comment @hairslayer2638 @cfrates2703 This is our personal experience and healing journey. We are sharing our experience; this is not a treatment suggestion or substitute for veterinary advice. There are different stages of IVDD. Not every IVDD case involves a paralyzed dog. We have been taking a preventative approach to IVDD for over 4 years through diet, supplements, exercise, and more. We are convinced that this preventative approach is the reason why our dog's injury was not as bad as it could have been. We wish your dogs all the best of health.

Homeopathy is literally just water. Dont listen to this shit. Take your dog to the vet and follow the guidance of your vet. Your dog needs muscle relaxers and neurological meds.

Thanks for watching! If you had listened to the whole video, you would know that we actually went to the vet and managed our Frenchies’ recovery 100% naturally with the approval and guidance of our vet. You would also know that we used a multifaceted approach and combined homeopathy, probiotics, antioxidants, red light therapy, physiotherapy, and more! Before you go around spreading misinformation, please share some proof of your claim regarding homeopathy being “literally just water”. This video documents OUR personal journey; it is not intended to replace veterinary advice. It is what worked for us in our specific case.

You still have not provided any sources for your claim that ‘homeopathy is just water’ and neither have you provided any links to any credible sources for your statements. Here are a few studies on 3 of the homeopathic ingredients we used with our dog: Anti-inflammatory effects of Arnica montana (mother tincture and homeopathic dilutions) in various cell models www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378874123009327?via%3Dihub Topical Calendula officinalis L. inhibits inflammatory pain through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and peripheral opioid mechanisms linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/S2095496422001108 Antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities of the leaf methanol extract of Ruta graveolens L.
