해야 (Haeya) means "Sun" or "(calling) sun!" HEYA is based on an original folktale IVE created. "a tiger who loves the sun" tells the story of a tiger who is off on a search for the sun, who is hidden in the darkness, metaphorized by IVE in the opening of the song yujin was holding a pipe and there's a smoke coming out of rei's mouth... in Korean folk tales instead of “once upon a time” they’d sometimes use “back when tigers used to smoke” ** the idea came from a Korean folktale titled "해와 달이 된 오누이/sun&moon siblings" ©divintoive/bunnynyeong/ancho____ Accendio seems like a cartoon fairytale. it's actually so fun to watch and so unserious 😭😭😭 gaeul hides the wand in the fridge ajdhfjkl

I can totally understand what you're saying. In fact, over the past few years, K-pop has lost a lot of its K-pop flavor. In order to break into the international market, the music or MVs have become very westernized (nothing bad, just feeling it's a pity). But IVE's this comeback really made me rediscover the K-pop feel and I love it sm!

This is one of my favorite MVs. Gauel, being the main character, is simply perfect and the plot, editing, clothing and makeup are simply fabulous and elegant. "해야"는 한국의 전통 신화(설화)를 우주+마법과 섞어서 재탄생 시킨 곡이라 너무 새롭고 좋았어요 "떡하나 주면 안 잡아먹지"를 "니 맘 나 주면 안잡아 먹지"로 바꾸고 동앗줄을 머리카락이랑 요술팽이...?로 바꿔서 쥐불놀이처럼 연출한 것도 너무 좋았고 한복을 여러 형태로 개량해서 입은 것도 너무 좋았어요❤ 아는게 많을 수록 보이는 게 많은 뮤직비디오여서 짜릿😊 노래는 당연히 완벽하고! I love IVE’s concepts and discography. They are really diverse in terms of their music and concepts and I feel like they do so well in the magical girls/cupids themes. Accendio is one of my top songs within IVE (Along with Satisfaction, Love Dive, Off the Record). I just love their light but dark undertone music having that magic essence. After Blackpink, IVE became my second favorite girl group (my fav of the 4th gen).

I'm Italian and I can tell you that accendio is not an actual italian word lol. It just resembles accendere which means to turn on smth and Incendio which means arson. The closest word is actually accendiNo which means lighter :)

I listened to IVE pretty casually since I Am, bc I loved that, but Accendio was my jam when the album dropped and now that we've got an honest to god real life Magical Girl IVE concept, I have decided to fall into stan-dom! Whoever is making artistic choices for IVE is digging so much deeper than most 4G groups. Context is everything. Love Dive really seems like it was some gentle mockery of IVE’s critics after Eleven debuted. Much the same for I Am. The criticism that they were playing the elegant angle but somehow lacking substance, perfectly skewered with OTT setting and style, …. And a perfectly crafted song. There had been noise about K-pop groups playing too much to English speaking audiences and mvs looking too western. IVE answers with HEYA. (I’m not sure why that critique is even a thing. A huge part of their fan base are in nominally English speaking countries. Should they exclude them from their artistic approach?). There is so much at work with IVE that involves just boy/girl, love/not love. Kitsch appears to be something similar. Like a poke in the eye of the haters. Add in the interesting musical hooks, clever compositions, very solid vocals, (and I do love when three or more voices sing harmony… they sound soooo good), and distinctive and really elegant choreography. IVE is redefining the sound and look of K-pop for a generation, and they’re just getting started. Respect people. Signed… Uncle Dive.
