Yes, JR Cash's version is very laid back and relaxed... check out Lucky Starr, the original singer both of this version & then the American version that Hank Snow (& then Johnny) later covered.

Then there are the New Zealand and India versions of the song (both found on KZbin). Hopelessly fast with incredibly complex place names. The comparatively lax German version is a breeze by comparison (at least the third verse of it).
