In North Carolina, if you go to a restaurant that looks fucked up and dirty, it’s not actually a good spot. There’s some spots that look old but are clean and actually try to be nice. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I’ve lived here my whole life trashy does not mean good here. Old spots can be good but they gotta look like they care about the presentation.

It’s still a big banking state but the triad area is technology and medicine now. These industries have changed the dynamic from the dying tobacco industry to a more sustainable long term growth focused economy. This in turn has increased a much more high tech, medical, scientific and financial workforce earning higher salaries. This has fuelled the mass migration of new residence from across the country and world. NC have many more international nonstop flights from CLT and RDU. All this has caused a home building boom and property prices to rise. With all this people have choices and serving food like this will not go over well. They will be the cause of their own eventual extinction.

I don't live in Charlotte, but I live in Fort Mill, which is right on the border, and about 30 minutes from Charlotte. Thank you for this heads up. However, if you want a good breakfast, and have the morning, up until 11am to spare, head on over to Albermarle, NC and go to this restaurant called Breakfast Nook. Really good place for breakfast, I highly recommend it.

Finding more and more it's just better tasting food when you fix it yourself at home. Also usually turns out cheaper. Growing up there was a saying if you want things done right, do it yourself. And as bad as my cooking skills are it still turns out better than most restaurants. Some things though are an art form. I can't fry chicken to save my life. Or make a chicken breast that comes out moist. BBQ chicken thighs on the grill with some baby rays however think I got down to a science. Hope you find places that meet or exceed your expectations.

They cup like that when they are thin and have a fat ring running around the outside. The fat shrinks and forces the outside to curl in, giving it that cupped appearance. A thicker chop or scoring the fat would prevent this. But they don't seem to be taking a lot of care in the food.

Im a Charlotte native, heres my personal recs: Party locos tacos food truck at the circle k off south blvd. THE best taco truck around. Shrimp tacos are gas. Island cuisine jamaican, North Charlotte. Pattys, stew, curry goat, and fried chicken on fri and sat are always on point. Halal cart in uptown. Go to the one in front of gen mill, the other one in center uptown is also good. Daves hot chicken is always 100. Pie.zaa in southend. The best NY style pizza in the city. Open late night. Brooks sandwich house in NoDa. Family owned classic staple. Only open weekdays. Abugida ethiopian on Central Ave. They will make you feel at home and the food is absolutely awesome.

I met a dude from NC when I lived in Texas. He said whataburger and lubys had the best food he ever ate and I wondered how that was possible. I see that NC is trash when it comes to food, my heart goes out to all of our brothers and sisters struggling down in NC.

No man I promise you it's not. You can't go by that dumbasses opinion and what this dude says on KZbin. Yes we have plenty of shitty restraunts just like anywhere else but we have a lot of really good local BBQ places, soul food places, Mexican restaurants, Italian restaurants, Chinese restaurants, burger joints, and some really good seafood because we're a beach state. It's really diverse and honestly the only place in North Carolina that has a lot of bad restraunts is Charlotte. Pretty much everywhere else has something good to offer. Durham and Raleigh alone beat Charlotte in the food department by miles It's not even close.

Yeah I have a similar story where when I used to live in Atlanta, I met plenty of people from South Carolina who came to Atlanta to eat at the restaurants here. I asked them why they come down here so often and they told me that their food sucks.

I think Charlotte gave up on life if their food is that shitty. I mean that hamburger meat looked not only inedible, I 100% agree with you it looks like they found it on the floor and cut it up into a patty. That whole experience in that city has traumatized you bro. Just get out of there. You'd find better soul food at a KFC than any where else in that lost city.

We used to go to Floyd's all the time. It was in an old McDonald's building and the food was great. Now I either just cook at home or swing by Cuzzo's.

@@woodsrdr I feel ya! I was raised around southern chefs who knew what they were doing in the kitchen. So I mostly cook/bake, myself. Therefore, my tastebuds have higher expectations when I eat out on occasion. I loved Floyds. But I was devastated when Simmons shut down. 😢 I’ve heard mixed reviews about Cuzzos. But I plan to check them out soon.
