Hi Saskia, shot in the dark as I know this is an older video, but I'm getting a new cagemate for my boar soon and have decided to be proactive about parasites, what age does the adult dosing (the pea amount) start for the ivermectin paste? The new boar is going to most likely be juvenile/adolescent, and I want to make sure I don't overdose him!

I come from Canada where the vets have no idea what ivermectin even is! They kept trying to give me revolution, but they’d never give me lots of it (enough to actually kill the mange mites), and it was crazy expensive about 35 dollars per treatment per pig. I did so much research and recently bought a bottle of ivermectin from LA rescue and it just came in! I’m so incredibly thankful to be able to help my piggies thanks to you guys!!

Hallelujah! A clear explanation. Back when I bought my first bottle, it was a huge blue one and about $100. Then I heard about the paste, which at that time was about $25. But there were no instructions so I put it on their ears. Then, I asked about how to administer it and found it the paste is given orally. Oh my goodness. What a mass of confusion I’d been through! So this month I will attempt to give them a pea sized amount in their mouth!

I have been having horrible anxiety about my fur baby Oreo 🥺 he definitely has mites, he’s losing his fur and itchy very itchy … has a yellow patch under his neck and I picked it off gently it was a sore. I just got some ivermectin paste yesterday from the local Tractor Supply and gave it to my 6 piggies yesterday. I put a pea sized drop on a piece of apple and gave it to each piggy. They all ate it right up with no hesitation! 😊 Thank you so much for your advice and help.

Thank you. We injected 12 in the beginning when 1 had mange. We didn't do the 2nd injection because it was so traumatic. Had to weigh each one, calculate dose, and opened vial stopper since needle wouldn't go thru ( too short). This was from an exotic vet an hour away since we don't have but 2 that even see them here. I was telling them doses of bactrim cause they didn't even know years ago ( I'm a pharmacist)!!

I also rescued a skinny pig from a Pet Feeder Supply. They didn’t have hardly any hay left in there for him. He was last one but when I picked him up he had a lot of scars from other pigs biting him. I had to give him vitamin c cause he was malnourished. I’m so thankful he survived and is happy now with his cage mate!

Thank you Saskia, I got part where through and bought a tube of the paste straight away, a packet cist me about £9 but I had to pretend I had a few foals on check out, I'm saving my Gineau Pigs, not ideal telling a porkie but they held me hostage on check out. If I have problems getting it in their mouths then I'll get the drops and pop on the ear. Ivermectin is brilliant stuff. 👏

Getting my piggies to let me put the paste in their little mouths was next to impossible. So I modified a syringe by putting an air pump inflatables adapter on the end. The adapter is just the right size for their mouth and the paste is in before they realize what's going on. 😁

Liked the video 😎, The only criticism was not related to mites ect but the large amount of parsley in front of the pig, ! For a great many years l used to run a Guinea pig rescue , specifically special needs Pigs, ie pigs in need of ongoing care needs ,blind, lame, and the most common was diorear, and the main cause was eating to much green vegetables! May sound like a fuss about nothing , but when you have to nurse a pig for weeks , regular vet visits for subcutaneous sailin to desperately try and rehydrate the pig , daily bathes to get rid of the sticky smelly mess that the poor pig is in, ! Even with the best quality care, the death rate for a pig that has been allowed to eat to much green food and developed diarrhoea is around 6 in 10, Sorry for the seamingly negative response to this article, but when l saw the amount of greens infront of a Guinea pig l just needed to point out the ""possibility """ of serious diorear ""

I only have 6 little darlings but I use the liquid type. I tried the paste but with my gang I ended up with paste everywhere but in little piggie mouths. I had an easier time putting the paste in my 1800 lb horse and a 75 lb goat then 6 little piggies. Heck giving a cat oral medicine is easier than the piggies. They love their vitamin C syringes so I tried syringe subterfuge but they found me out, it was a big piggie denial. So its the drop on the ear during a routine health check and the piggie world is peace.

I think your videos should feature adoptable Guinea pigs, one or two at a time to drum up interest in adopting them. The bachelor or bachelorette of the week. My piggies hated the apple flavored ivermectin paste so I bough the liquid from the rescue. It is so much easier.

It might not be able in your area, but spot on ivermectin is widely available for small animals in Europe. In the UK you can buy it for £4.50 (~$6) that has enough for two pigs.

Love this channel. I'm learning so much. I don't have a guinea yet but I would like one or two. Can I use the injectable ivermectin on my dog's ear topically or do I need to get the paste for a dog? I recommend Bravecto - that is what i use for my dogs and cats. It can be expensive but is very good and with my dogs eating chicken and horse poop all the time i need peace of mind that they stay healthy. There are many dog products and I don't think you should use ivemectin this way on a dog. talk to your vet

Thank you for the clarification on the application of ivermectin. I was applying once a month which was too much. I use the liquid form as my pigs hated the paste form. Your medical and disease prevention information is a life saver. I do have one question. If they do have mites I apply once a week for three weeks. Is this correct?

When I 1st got my 2 guinea pigs, Sylvester and Leroy, they had to be separated for a bit because one of them had just a bit of ringworm on his nose. I asked her about Ivermectin for a preventive for mites. She said no, it is toxic for guinea pigs or it can be. I therefore have been hesitant to order it and use. I just make sure I clean and change the bedding often.

Hi Sakia thank you for your informative videos. I bought Beaphar here in the Uk it has ivermectin 25ug in the solution. My guinea pigs have been itching. Some of them have bloody patches. So I applied yesterday as instructed on the packaging at the back of their ears. Didnt touch the irrated skin. And today they have more scratches . Will it take time for it to work ? And is there any medicated cream you could reccomend to help soothe the cuts ? I have been watching them on and off. I don't think they have been fighting. It's just them scratching really bad. Do you think I should bath them and then reapply ? I feel so sorry for the. And am worried.

After 3 weeks treatment shouldn't a fungus not looking better? It should right? Btw i tried cbd 2 days long for my troublemaker. That helps so much. The piggie keep calm. The other too. Mommy is happy again. Without cbd she is a good girl again . I love it!! I will tell our vets and tell from your channel. Some thinks you doing better then our guinea lovers, rescues vets etc. Your are more calm with the holding of piggies too. I think it's a mentality thing. Here we have so much rules for it. Lost the love and fun about holding piggies
