The new Area 419 mount is incredible. They have a quick video showing how they are made and the next level machining that is second to none.

I like the idea of the alignment dowels I guess it keeps the tops from twisting the scope tube while tightening. I fret over the gaps being the same on each side of the rings and try to tighten them evenly. Always seems to change my plumb if it isn't done evenly. I would bet you could move this scope once mounted top another rifle then back and it would be pretty darn close to where it was. I have three sets of LaRue QD mounts I swap scopes around with very good repeatability.

If u ever give ARC rings a try, u will never go back. One bolt and none of the twisting of the 6 bolts.

Until the rings crack at the hinges. Had 2 of them do it. CS was great and all, but if I can't rely on it to stay together, then what's the point?
@1clnsdime19 ай бұрын
@vgl217 What caused this, and do you have pictures. I would love to see what happened. Did u torque them? I have had them on 3 guns for a few years, one elr heavy recoiling gun with an extremely heavy scope and no issues.

@@1clnsdime1I've got pictures I sent to ARC, even have one of the cracked mounts yet. I suspect cold weather was the cause. Found it shortly after shooting a night match that dipped below freezing. My buddy shot the same match and his gave out a week or so after mine. These were MBRACE mounts, but same design as their other stuff. Didn't look under any real magnification but I couldn't see any obvious material defects. Really liked the mount up until that point.

I use F3R Machine. Precision rifle scope mounting systems of the one piece design. Rings are marked to orientation, but don't have the dowel pins. But he does have a hard time with inventory.

Totally agree and they’re great ring systems too.

Weren't you using NEAR mounts at one point? Why did you change?
@FClassJohn9 ай бұрын
I haven't had the NeAR for a few years. They're great too but they were 30mm rings and sold them when I sold the scopes and moved on to F3R which I love as well but he's struggled with stock for a while and I had a chance to use these and just love them and he has them in stock and the colors don't cost anything different. But to be fair, all three sets of ring companies I've used are great.

Hi John. I've got one simple question. I noticed the ring fixture near your magnification adjustment on the scope. It appears to have a lens in it? Is it like a simple dot sight to line up your rig to the target. If so, could you let me know who made it. Enjoyed the review. All the best from Oz.

What height did you get for your set up? And what happened with the f 3 r ?

I couldn't get more F3R at the time so I gave these a try and really fell in love with some of the features. On these Ivy rings I'm using the medium height 1.20”

@FClassJohn I know you scope is 34mm but what's the hight?

O ok my bad. Thank you

They don't have 34mm hight. It's 1.2" or 1.4"

Of course its a 1/2" nut, dont mind that the rest of the world uses metric 😂 13mm works for 1/2" but its not optimal...
