thank you for this! ive a question, why does it matter what round a character gets banned/gets chosen? like in 0:48 the commentators are shocked with ppxia banning explorer, and some vids they're like "he's bringing out x hunter in the first round?" ^^;

Explorer is not meta enough compared to so many other options and not particularly a hard counter against sculptor compared with character like entomologist.

There could be many reasons why a hunter ban certain survivors. In this scenario ppxia the hunter have already set in mind to play sculptor, and looks like he wants to avoid fast decoding team. The only decoders that are good against sculptor are mechanic and explorer, hence the ban. Regarding the why bringing out certain hunters on first round, there could be many reasons, have to be a bit more specific. But probably the commentators were shocked why the hunter didnt pick their main or maybe a meta hunter on the first round.

It's basically like others have already said! Usually they are just expecting the meta to be banned/picked, and the hunter or survivors decided to take things in an unconventional direction 😂 The regular season competitions are best of 3 rounds, so the best-case scenario is for a team to bring out their strongest hand early on and win the first two rounds. Hunters will play their main or a meta character in Round 1. If they don't, they may not ever have the chance again, because by Round 2, the survivors will ban them. Hunters are also sometimes more ambitious in Round 1 (and will play characters with winning potential instead of tie hunters) since they want to get their team the early advantage and there isn't as much pressure on them yet. The survivor team will almost always prioritize meta characters that are good at countering several hunters, or they might be specific to counter the opponent's main character. Once those characters are banned, we often see their "replacements" come out in later rounds (e.g. Batter is played if Forward is banned). As a result, you end up with certain characters that are the norm for Round 1 vs later rounds. But it's definitely also specific to the situation :D

Always thankful for your translation. I was wondering about when will games of fall IVL are uploaded. I know there are some games already up, but curious about commentary of sculptors/DW/Wheel/Bonbon with patient and psychologist added. Again, thanks for your work!

We plan to alternate between uploading videos from the fall season and some older videos! It depends on how soon they'll be finished, so it's not exactly decided yet 😅 but we will still be uploading videos from both 2021 Summer and Autumn season throughout early next year.

ppxia will turn 18 on the 30th of March 2022. So he would be eligible for the 2022 Summer IVL but unlikely to play in COA V (if it follows a similar timeline as the past year).
