Salman Khan claimed on Kapil Sharma show that his father suggested the Maa character to somewhat redeem the character. Initially, they laughed it off but later added it after a few previews shows met bad reactions. Now that you say that it was not there in the Hollywood original, the story might be legit.

Urjita's lack of research or knowledge of these movies is quite apparent as always. The fat guy in Baazigar is played by Harpal Singh Pali who was a regular in the movies of those times. Dr Hathi in TMKUC was played by Kavi Kumar Azad who is now deceased. Not all fat guys look the same Urjita 😁😁😁

Gotta give kudos to Shahrukh for zigging when most “heroes” would have zagged by playing a baddie in three films so early in his career. Hell, before he made his official Bollywood debut with Deewana, he played a character who is implied to be gay in the 1989 English-language TV movie In Which Annie Gives it Those Ones (written by Arundhati Roy). That’s some confidence, and it really points to the thespian in him. I know he loves doing action films, but I love when he does character-driven films, and I wish he’d do more (I guess Dear Zindagi was the most recent one). I’m from the States, and it was primarily Aamir’s work that got me into Hindi films, but I’ve really come around to Shahrukh’s work. The man is just so goddamned charming.

Movies in 80s and 90s used to romanticize rich girl marrying poor boy against family’s wishes actually contrary to what Urjita is saying 53:55. Idk where she’s getting this - which movie showed a heroine regretting marrying a poor man from that era? Instead they usually had her learn values and simplicity by loving a poor man who fixes her rich snobbish ways usually. Usually the girl was rebelling for love and movies really made it seem believable

Epic! Have been waiting for baazigar to feature. Although it hasn't really aged well 😅 but this was start of SRK's reign. Just made me watch the movie (albeit in fast mode!) and come back to watch this episode! Totally true about "Power of Attorney" I have no idea why this movie was my favorite childhood movie, the first ever movie I watched in life and loved it apparently! Power of the songs!
