The body of sound behind every note he plays, within every measure of the music, is the very stuff of fantasy itself. Regardless of one's conditioning, and how the world has come to perceive Chopin's Fantasie in F minor to the exclusion of bold and new ideas, this performance is extraordinary to me. Almost utterly cerebral in his approach, Pogorelich digs deep to define the difference between playing the piano and c resting Music as an extension of the source. But then, I have always been one to champion him, even at his most eccentric - and this is no exception! - that when thinking outside the square of any creative endeavor, one ultimately comes to realize that there is no square but for the boundaries we place upon Art as a living thing. This is genius at work, make no mistake about it!

Even a genius is entitled to A Bad Day every once in a while. It simply serves to show the world that he or she is indeed human, contrary to the claims of that genius's most fanatical fans. We ❤You Pogo - Good Days & Bad. Hang tough, Maestro.

@@golden-63 Ivo Pogorelich was never the same after the death of his wife Aliza Kezeradze in 1996. She was also his teacher, mentor and much more. She studied piano with Franz Liszt's last pupil and was well known in Russia both as a pianist and a music pedagogue. He was at her bedside when she died of liver cancer. She didn't simply "pass away" peacefully, however. The scenario at her death was horrific beyond belief. You can read about it online if you wish. I just hope that Mr. Pogorelich can continue to perform in public. Fortunately he has a source of income from his earlier recordings.

@@golden-63 That is an exaggeration. You're missing a lot with this attitude. But there is a lot of banging in this one.
