I commented on this one before and came back to say this…if it weren’t for this channel, I would never have discovered this wonderful band or any of the other outstanding music herein. I was fortunate enough to get a like on my comment by the channel moderator and sad to hear of his passing. Much love.

IVORY'S self titled album was originally released in 1968 on the new Tetragrammaton Records label which was in California and unfortunately it sank without a trace. Nevertheless, this album is great, with a West Coast tinged psychedelic sound much in the vein of Jefferson Airplane (in fact it was produced by the Airplane's producer himself, Al Schmitt) and was fueled by ultra-loud fuzz guitar, organ and beautiful female vocals. File next to other obscure psych bands like Yankee Dollar, Peanut Butter Conspiracy, Neighborhood Children, Art Of Lovin', January Tyme, Fort Mudge Memorial Dump and Insect Trust. Besides a cd reissue it was also released on vinyl with a remastered sound and updated liner notes.
@Miler974873 жыл бұрын
Tetragrammaton was ran by none other than Bill Cosby and it's the label Deep Purple got their start (Shades of Deep Purple got released in the States before the UK).

@Miler974873 жыл бұрын
@@chriswakefield9538 He sure did (as well as several other people) and you can find out about Tetragrammaton Records online and his name will get mentioned. Anyways the label was distributed by Warner Bros. which happened to be the label he recorded for. That also explains how Purple ended up on Warner after Tetragrammaton folded. Even Cosby released his 8:15 12:15 album on Tetragrammaton but it's his only one on the label. Unsurprisingly he went back to Warner after the Tetragrammaton's demise.
@scotts.36003 жыл бұрын
@@Miler97487 & @Mark Wajdeman: When I saw Tetragrammaton I immediately thought Deep Purple. I still have a vinyl copy of "Shades" that I picked at a thrift-store in the 80's. I didn't know about that Cosby connection, though I do have a number of those Cosby Warner releases in my collection as well.
