Thanks for this, never knew how they actually moved it to the flasks until now.

No doubt things have changed now but I actually entered into the yard at Bridgewater without any problem and if I recall noted the flasks were 55 tonne and the crane was only rated at 50 tonne, I may have ben wrong, but I don't think so! The road transporters themselves are impressive vehicles when seen between Hinckley and Bridgewater.

@ class37100 that siding isn't just next to houses its right next to a primary school which has previously been contaminated due to leaks from the flasks - here is a link to some old press cuttings from the incident dropbox.com/sh/bu422lytpinz3va/AADX6SM-tS9vGVJ2MsvphDD_a?dl=0 It is a damning indicment of local government and telling of the nuclear industries power that despite promises nothing was ever done to stop the waste being dealt with here - the leaks were not declared by the #Nuclear industrys monitoring regime but were instead picked up by #SomersetCountyCouncil 's independent monitoring scheme (which no longer exists). Radiation levels on the playground of #EastoverPrimarySchool were twice the national average at the time - this lead to ballast contaminated with Caesium 137 being removed and replaced...see the press cuttings above for more information Now there is no monitoring - what the eye doesnt see the heart doesn't grieve over and all that - I became a school governor at that school because I wanted to do something about it...but was never able to as a governor as I became ill and was asked to resign. Nowhere else in the country (I suspect even in Europe) is such a dangerous activity carried out in such a close proximity to a primary school. Children are far more vulnerable to the effects of radiation because their cells are constantly reproducing because they are growing... What a terrible risk to pose to our innocent children - all because it suits those in power to make this material in order to maintain their power in the world - shows how little we value our future....

The flasks have been tested and proven, the radiation given off even to passengers on a platform near these is pretty much background.
