It's a such a shame to learn about his vices, not because of any judgements due to his actions, but the hypocrisy of it all. There is a book about Bob Crane, but I never read it yet. I watched Hogans Heroes when new, as a child, and thought he was cute. During 1975, Crane had a short-lived sitcom on TV of him as a married professional photographer to a magazine, if I recall correctly. I remember on the show, he sometimes wore a white sweatshirt with a dark sketch of Beethoven on it.

I've never read anything about Bob Crane seeking therapy of any kind for his sex addiction, even after it cost him his family and his career. Was he a "victim of addiction", or an addict who refused to admit he had a problem?
@erichaynes75023 жыл бұрын
Probably both because both conditions go hand in hand. I liken addiction to a "party" and a very fun party at that. However, we all know what it looks like at the end of a fun party. Spilled wine on the carpets, vomit in varying places around the house, broken glass shards everywhere, trash can overflowing with smelly food, cigs, more broken bottles. The end was ungodly ugly for Bob Crane, it should have never happened but how can you predict your best friend will kill you?
@cmm21453 жыл бұрын
Bob Crane was in therapy for his sex addiction. His addiction was causing problems with his kids especially the youngest whose mother was Bob’s 2nd wife Sigrid Valdez. The youngest was still a child and his mother would not allow the son to visit his father because of the sex addiction. Bob wanted contact with his kids so he had to overcome the sex addiction which is why he was in therapy. His therapist told him that in order to overcome the addiction he would have to stay away from places that could be sources of temptation and he would have to cut ties with anyone who was participating with him in the behavior he wanted to quit. So he was breaking it off with his BFF and “partner in crime” John Carpenter.

@@cmm2145 that makes sense. There's just no way that John was going to give it up that easily. Who knows, they were naked alot together, maybe John had feelings for Bob ? Maybe he didn't even know he felt that way until Bob wanted to end their friendship?

@@erichaynes7502 - Actually, and surprisingly enough, it turns out that John Carpenter did not kill Bob Crane. He was the main suspect. I think he went on trial twice. The first trial was a mistrial. The second trial was an acquittal. Sometime more recently the case was reopened because a detective found some new evidence. I don’t remember details, but the new evidence proved that Carpenter didn’t do it. It didn’t prove who did though. There are KZbin videos that cover this. Next suspect may be an actress who was in the dinner theater play with Bob. Something happened and she was mad at him. She’s also the person who found the body. Or it could’ve been one of the women he hooked up with or the jealous spouse or boyfriend of one of them. The murder weapon was never found. Speculation was that it was a tripod, but it has been suggested that maybe it was a claw hammer.

The DNA from John 's rental was retested and came back as two distinct sample, one unknown and one too degraded. The supposed brain matter sample has been lost. Some say this clears John Carpenter of the murder but all it proves is that one sample isn't his or Bob Cranes, maybe he called a very close friend after the murder and the sample is theirs or maybe it's nothing to do with Bob Crane murder. The Scottsdale police simply didn't have the expertise to deal with such a high profile murder case (the story goes there had been 1-2 murders there in the previous 10 years)--when they arrived on the scene they essentially didn't restrict the coming/going of people around the crime scene-essentially contaminating it-they didn't take sufficient samples-and DNA analysis was not known or in its very early infancy so simply couldn't be used in this case--the murderer got away with it in large part due to police ineptitude--(although I agree Carpenter was the most likely suspect--interestingly he flew back to Los Angeles and stayed at Richard Dawson's home-and it was known that Dawson and Crane were not on good terms)

As someone who suffered from sex addiction for over four years, I can attest to how debilitating it is. I put myself in some strange situations and made very dangerous choices that a "normal" person would not have made. I didn't realize it was an addiction... I thought I was "enlightened" and had simply moved beyond "American Puritanism." My point is that I'm certain Crane crossed paths with numerous men (and women) who felt victimized by him. It's possible that his murderer is someone whose name has never come to light. But with that in mind, I still think that Carpenter is the likeliest suspect (even though recent DNA tests supposedly cleared him). We'll probably never really know the truth.
@erichaynes75023 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about your addiction and hope you're doing better. As far as Carpenter, he almost certainly killed Crane that 1994 book by Graysmith is so incriminating it's not even funny. However, no prosecutor worth their salt would dare prosecute such a case because let's face it with the lifestyle Crane had, every person within 1,000 miles of the crime scene is a possible suspect. Still, Carpenter had "B" type blood and brain matter in his rental car in the world of common sense he's the murderer, just no way to prove it 100% back then because they didn't have DNA testing.

Cynthia’s husband found out about her affair with Bob and gave her an ultimatum. Either quit the show at the end of the first season or he would divorce her. She quit the show and about a year or so later he divorced her anyway.

Bob Crane was clearly a good-hearted and loving human being -- these attributes shone through. His addiction problem was an unfortunate affliction, very sad. Seems though, that many well-known people have that affliction, especially Democrat politicians that fund payments to gag subjects of their party members' escapades. Then of course we have wild Bill Clinton, Weiner, JFK, and many others.

Jesus Christ saves from sin. Romans 3: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Hebrews 9: 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Isaiah 64: 6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Revelation 21: 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Romans 5: 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. John 3: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 14: 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Romans 10: 9-10. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Jesus said John 5: 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. 1John 5: 10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Ephesians 2: 8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 8: 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 2 Corinthians 5: 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. ..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
