Well aware my man. You have the taste of a gentleman and a scholar. IWC is the non obvious, non showy machine that gets better the longer you wear it. Long may you enjoy those little machines knowing you know, most don’t and the ones that do, tip their proverbial hat.

I think you were very smart buying used. It be had only about six pieces in my life (that were considered a luxury watch) and I’ve purchased all of them used. Always mint condition and always saved a good piece of money. You have a beautiful collection. I am currently looking for an IWC but wanting a 40mm narrows down your models and then I have to wait for someone to sell thiers haha. I will have one though
@RandyswatchesАй бұрын
I used to be locked into the 38-40mm size like you, but the more I came to love these pieces, the more I see myself with larger statement pieces that wear more like jewelry. I think over the next few years I’ll pick up one or two interesting large models.

Overseas or overseas dual time black dial. But I just don’t know if I could justify another watch in the collection without purging some, and I can’t think of an IWC that I’d be willing to part with.

Ha that's funny, we might both be tripping, but you're right about the SCHAFFHAUSEN on the dials. I just blew up a couple pics of my Mark XVI and Ingenieur 3570 and it appears as though the bottoms of the F's are slightly higher than the other letters. I think it's just an optical illusion, but who knows, these luxury watch makers can be super quirky in their little details of slight.

The Grand Canyon was once just a trickling stream. The more discipline and patience you have, the sweeter it will be to look at it on your wrist. Open an account, save $1000 a year, and in 5 years buy a used piece that will remind you every day of your own value and determination.

Have the “tribute to 3705” which is comparable to your Ceratanium Love the dial of Mark XX and how it wears but not the biggest fan of the steel bracelet Have you tried it with IWC easy xchange rubber straps as well ?
@RandyswatchesАй бұрын
I have not. On a lighter watch that doesn’t need so much support, I would rather have an assortment of NATOs. For a heavier piece, a thicker rubber strap makes more sense.
@aquastyle3 ай бұрын
I'm seriously considering the Top Gun 41. I don't like it too big. I came from a Rolex Sea Dweller, 43mm, it was thick and top heavy so I sold it. I want something light and daily friendly but price point is on the higher end. Is it mainly because of the material? I'm new to IWC. Also loving the clear case back!
@Randyswatches3 ай бұрын
It’s a great piece, and more are becoming available. It also wears very light for its size. The cost is due to the ceratanium, which has a high failure rate in production. It’s a very difficult metal to mass produce. There are less expensive full titanium or ceramic versions that I think look great, and don’t discount stainless steel. There’s a specific C.03 with black on stainless steel that is a 250 piece limited edition that is stunning.
@aquastyle3 ай бұрын
@@Randyswatches Thank you! I read that Ceratanium can get marks easily and is not easy to clean. Do you find that true?
@Randyswatches2 ай бұрын
No. Any marks on it are just other material rubbing off onto the case. The case is not coated, the metal is hardened to an extreme, like ceramic. Mine is still flawless.

I would love to pick up the Mark XX. How is the accuracy (s/d?)
@Randyswatches25 күн бұрын
I think it’s about 5 seconds/day slow, but honestly I have so many now that I lose track. I didn’t notice any loss/gain on my vacation week with it (which I talked about in this latest rambling video). The mark XX is probably still my pick for anyone wanting a GADA watch.
@therascals823725 күн бұрын
@@Randyswatches thanks for your insight! What do you think of the green Mark XX? Do you think it would go with other straps like the blue one?
@Randyswatches24 күн бұрын
First, I’d say that buying a watch is about putting it on and letting it speak to you. I’ll tell you that all of the Mark XX colors will look great on straps and bracelets. What matters is, will you walk past a mirror and see your reflection and have to stop to admire the timepiece? Does it make you smile to put it on? Go to a dealer and sit down and start a conversation. If you can’t do that, wait for a special occasion and order the one that you really want most.

Are there only certain models that have true in house movements?
@RandyswatchesАй бұрын
Well, the Richemont group has a lot of cross-pollination. And keep in mind that just because something is “in-house”, doesn’t make it exclusive… this dates all the way back to the Daytona and Zenith, and Breitling and Tudor, and an endless list of others. An example of an in-house and exclusive movement would be like the Oris 5 day calibre, or certain Omega movements. Regarding IWC, it seems a few models, such as the 36mm pilot watches, use sellita base with upgrades. Otherwise it’s all Richemont owned.

Impossible to pick. If you put a gun to my head, I’d pick the spitfire, even knowing the mark xx is more versatile, because my wife likes it on me.
