The cool thing about this series... it wasnt geng "throwing". It was flyquest playing well and initiating plays and performing ... mostly. They were out teamfighting geng. Unreal. Edit: Lets get something VERY clear. NO ONE is saying GenG "made no mistakes". That doesnt even make sense. The implication is that Flyquest outplayed them in Game 1 and 3 by their own merits and performance; they did well. Trying to take that away from them is pretty lame. Tragic game 5. Absolutely tragic. They definitely need to be proud of their performance. plenty to learn and take away from this series

I agree but Game 3 was especially throw by GenG. Peyz using E to go forward leading to kaisa getting a first blood double kill, and GenG overchasing into enemy blue when dragon is up were the two moments that gave Fly its lead mostly.

No one's saying geng didnt have a shaky performance, but it was absolutely flyquest showing up and winning the games in convincing fashion. Games 2 and 5 were more convincing, but arguably could be boiled down to draft execution; especially with that smolder nonsense.

@@ryutipscows9712 MAD scraped their way out of play-ins 2-1 and 100T were eliminated so I guess they were in competition with teams a step below the main tournament and didn’t deserve to progress, but idk I think it can be argued that all the teams should get more games so that they can get experience playing internationally, they just won’t have very high viewership. Having said that, some matchups would get decent views and sell tickets in a double elimination playoffs for example series with Brazil, NA vs EU, Vietnam, and these are also pretty fun series to watch even if they’re not the pinnacle of tier 1 league.

The sad part is in the interview after the game they said they didnt think Chovy was gonna pick Smolder into Yone. That was the only real mistake they did in their prep tbh. Anyone whos watched LCK this year knows how insane Chovy's Smolder is ESP into Yone (100% win rate i belive). I'd have liked a Trist > Smolder (like Zeka did in the finals) or just let Chovy have the Yone like IWD said and draft around that.

EU supporter here, G2 showed much more than FLY during swiss stage and I stand by it when I say that qualification to quarter is not good performance indicator given the draws. However, FLY just made a strong case that they they could have taken G2, or at least it would have been a balanced matchup, and I gotta admit they did a huge perf today ! If they keep doing so we could have a competitive west again, cause even though it's not much, this year has been undoubtedly the best we had in the past 4 years in terms of performance against asian teams. EU and NA are still far away, but there was a glimmer of hope in 2024. Congrats NA, FLY deserved their spot, and I'm truly sad they didn't make it.

I think the biggest problem game 5 was letting smolder free stack mid. idk what they could've done, but maybe letting geng have yone and play cassio into it was the play or lane swapping so smolder doesn't free stack. still, gg to them. no one expected them to take games off geng.
