Hi Tom, of course I have already finished installing my Orange grips on my new iX20. I can see the areas you left out of this video. I left a review on the product page with photos. The 3M adhesive used on the sides are 2 pieces and some extra material that will need to be removed with the paper backing. Your video is edited at this point. No matter how you tell the story, this is a royal pain to install and takes time to do it professionally. I believe screws would be better (like the DX20) anyone that spends $1400 for a new radio would like to keep it looking nice. The old 3M tape needs to be completely removed for the best results. I used rubbing alcohol to remove the glue from the plastic sides. Then applied the new tape once it was clean. The orange grips will seat flat and line up perfectly if you take your time. took me about 2 hours for a nice looking job. I know you were tying to help, but I feel you left out some key information All the bestRich

I swore I'd not spend that $$$. But, TBH, it WILL do everything!

I would like to see this taken to a next step, and show approved ways of properly removing the adhesive.

The key is put a little liquid hand soap on the little grommets, and it’s a perfect fit .

The easiest way I found to remove the old adhesive is to roll it off with your finger tips. I agree with RichJ53, it's a right, royal pain of a job. One tip for fitting the side grips; first remove all the old adhesive, then fit the grips without adhesive. Repeat this a couple of times and you'll find the pegs pop into the holes a lot easier, then do a final fit with adhesive. The end result, whatever method you use is pretty funky!

Are there any rubber grips specifically for the gimbel stick ends? Sounds stupid, but the sharp ends really hurt my thumbs.

Tom I just put on the top orange grips only. The back is still grey. Seriously, this sucks. Used a heat gun to remove the grey grips and also used it to help remove to old 3M tape. Also used Goo Gone and alcohol and a flat side of a small screwdriver. No matter how you sum it up you guys should be ashamed of yourself . To do a good job the old tape needs to be removed, there is no way the orange grips are going to stick to the old tape. I tried it and the grip came right off. This is a top of the line transmitter and you cheapen it up by doing this. The price of this transmitter is already high. Yes I know people complain a lot. But this is legit. You should have used screws to hold on the grips and your customers would be happy.

I did both my DX 9 & IX 12 radios using the existing adhesive with very little issues. The front pad edges would not stay down, but a bit of scotch tape holding the edges down for a couple of days locked them down. Still looking good after two years

Why don’t you not attach either one, let the consumers choose. These things are not easy to remove cleanly and replace… lol

A bit too much work and manipulating. Big scratch/damage risk to the transmitter! Please don't use metal tool. I like the stock grips, thankfully... 😏
