Wound up buying this record because I went up to pay for some stuff at Everyday Music on Sandy Boulevard in Portland Oregon (sadly closed) in the early 2000's and the guy behind the counter looked at me and saw I was dressed punk (stretch jeans, Converse, studded jean jacket with patches/pins, bondage belt). He said something like, "I think you would like this" and slid it across the counter to me to look at. I'd never heard of it, but it was used and $8.50 and thought it was super cool someone who obviously knew about punk genuinely cared/gave a f**k enough to recommend something to some dead-end kid from nowhere. Anyway, bought it and loved it. It's very different than most fast punk, slower and more unnerving and pretty depressing, even the cover image evokes strong feelings, but being used to the trees/rain/cloudy days of the Pacific Northwest and being alone pretty much all the time - it was perfect and makes you think introspectively. Learned later on from other people I knew or reading stuff or listening to stuff that the band was highly influential/known/regarded, etc. I have a love/hate relationship with punk because of a lot of stuff being cliche/redone, but this is good stuff and I'll always give it a thumbs up. Real punk for the outcasts and those that like to think rather than be numb all day. Vancouver Washington / PDX punks Forever.

J Church covers "No Doves Fly Here" on their 1995 Nostalgic For Nothing LP. RIP Lance Hahn (J Church singer/guitarist & Maximumrocknroll writer) 1967-2007. Lance = legendary punk rocker. He sadly passed before his time from kidney-related medical problems. Both records released by the Broken Rekids label, Jay in 1995, The Mob reissue in 2001.

One of my favorite albums of early 80s. some of their songs are songs are still so current like "which hunt" ! "Stubbing out progress where seeds are sown, Killing off anything that's not quite known" What we experiment today with small groups who decide to burn you on public places is scaring. We are like living in Iran or Pakistan today, Chinese revolution culture in late 60s ! It's ominous !
