Another great episode, this time featuring one of my favorite magic players, Amy the Amazonian. Shuffle Up & Play always does an amazing job of balancing interesting format angles, with great gameplay and the best guests. To that end, I’d love to see a Boomer 2023 with Gerry Thompson versus Bryan Gottlieb and Mike Flores versus Patrick Chapin and Reid Duke versus Huey Jensen. Thanks for everyone’s hard work at Shuffle Up & Play, it is appreciated.

Two things I loved about this episode. The theatrics of Prof's big reveal that caused everyone to look at him with raised eyebrows and the lengths that were fine through to see who gets saddled with Prof's losing streak. Excellent episode. Selesnya and Izzet are my favorite guilds, so I'm stoked that they won.

7:30 - Countering his own spell? while it has been already interacted? is that correct in terms of how the stack works? might be wrong here but the order should be as follows: 1st - Remand 2nd - Selesnya charm to protect the dryad 3rd - Electrolyze (gets "countered" by selesnya charm) The thing that troubles me is that the guy says "i counter my own electrolyze"
@LaeridАй бұрын
I also have doubts about that play. He couldn’t have recast the electrolyze to put it back on top of the existing stack since the remand did NOT resolve - just like the rest of the stack. The trick would have worked to “save” his electrolyze - which is a decent play - but when he got back his electrolyze the buff was already resolved and the damage no longer enough to kill the creature. You can’t just resolve stuff on the stack while leaving other spells on it - right ? EDIT : wrong - his play was legit 😮 Each spell that is put on the stack resolves one at a time, starting with the topmost. When passing priority back to the Izzet player once remand resolves, he can recast his burn in response to the rest of the stack
@timothyvenske6519 Жыл бұрын
Loved the ASoIaF sleeves this episode. Very flavorful to use them for a Guild Battle episode. Minus points for not having five guilds for the War of the Five Kings lol Selesnya Deck: House Stark - “Winter is Coming.” Izzet Deck: House Lannister - “Hear Me Roar.” Gruul Deck: House Targaryen - “Fire and Blood.” Dimir Deck: House Greyjoy - “We Do Not Sow.”

Given I entered into Magic fandom during Guilds of Ravnica block, I consider Ravnica to be archetypal Magic: The Gathering. Strong, flavorful mechanics, in a huge variety of playstyles. Nowhere else can you find a card that wins by filibuster (Azor's Elocutors).
