J15 is th best new acoustic in a decade - birth of an absolute classic

А мне не очень понравилась. Как только посильнее начинаешь играть, она захлёбывается. А при слабой игре очень достойно звучит, да

They all sound great, there's just something so familiar and sweet about that J-45 tone.

Thought I would prefer the J35. But listening, it had more detail but almost at the expense of depth and low end richness that I love from the J45. The J15 sounded great! Actually better than I expected. Sounded like a great Gibson acoustic.

Was playing a -35 vs -45 in the shop the other day. -35 was just better. I've always wanted a -45 but I'd be getting the -35 for my money.

When I first played my J-15 in the store I said to myself, "What the heck....I love this thing! It is very responsive with a quick and woody decay. All styles of music work beautifully on the J-15, including finger style. Gibson hit the jackpot with this guitar but, sadly, they have discontinued it.
@ArielCardona2 жыл бұрын
Actually, all three are discontinued or, more exactly, changed in name and slightly modified.
@tdc_202127 күн бұрын
The J-15 was a victim of its own success. Gibson sold it too cheaply vs the J-45 and I think the sales were cannibalised as a result. Then they brought out the J-45 studio which was nowhere near as good but was more expensive

Good point....that's the conclusion I arrived at as well. But I sure am glad I got one!

For me nothing says guitar like a J45. When I see mine hanging on the wall it just makes me smile Kinda like looking at a 49 Merc coupe or a Colt single action army revolver
@patrickroe3260 Жыл бұрын
I think it possible that the reason the J15 was discontinued is because it was cutting to J45 sales. By many accounts, it was very consistant and a lot less money but not a less guitar.

J45 is way brighter than J15. Case closed.
@TheULMOnaut3 жыл бұрын
The J15 sounds more woody and dry, sententious, if that is the right word and I like that. The bass response on the J45 Standard might be deeper though.

No J-29? I personally prefer it due to the rosewood back and sides.

Hey, Quinton, If you had pick one of these three which one would it be (even though I know they"re all excellent)?
@stephentyndall1595 жыл бұрын
Just wondering, what is it about the J45 build that adds that trebley sound compared to the J15? Is it just the back and sides or is it the bracing that's different. I preferred the J15.
@jimmy56345 жыл бұрын
Stephen Tyndall The J15 has a bit more punch or roundness in the upper mids and trebles Alsothe bass frequencies don't go as low as the j45. It's commonly referred to in the J45 as the "Gibson Thump" The "trebly" sound you are hearing in the J45 is most definitely due to the bracing as well as the neck, back and side woods. The J15 offers a more "balanced" voicing and cuts in a mix a little better. Some folks refer to that as a more "modern voicing." The J45 has an iconic voicing that people are familiar with. Personally, I really liked any J15 I have played but in my case not better than a J 45. You really need to play several side by side. You can't go wrong with either because their both danged good! Hope that helps. BTW, I may buy a J15 to go with my 45 someday. 😃

Good Luck JM! I have mine about 3 years and recently brought it to a professional to do a good set up. Since that set up I believe that my J-45 is easily the best acoustic I have ever heard. I bet you will also find that to be true in your case.

Oded Hen not at all
@BigKidCertified4 жыл бұрын
Oded Hen NO!! Haha it’s a beast!! I’m not a professional, but my cousin is. He has a nice J45 Gibson gave him and it sounds great, but it’s quiet. It’s very mellow, those who wrote music often like it because it just kind of offers the melody without saying hey, listen to me! I recently went to one of my cousins concerts and brought my J15 to jam with during the day before the show. ALL of his band mates were blown away by the J15. I played his J45 and it sounds beautiful, but it’s very very mellow which for me, I couldn’t have as my only acoustic. If I was like him and had several flavors to choose from, perfect. But as one of the guys said, the J15 is so dynamic, emotional, quiet, loud, and beautiful! Before I get roasted for my opinion, my cousin and a few of the guys are signed songwriters, as well as having a band. They wrote two top 20 hits last year. So I valued their response given the thousands of studio hours they have. Go buy one, you’ll love it! But you just try a set of martin retro monel strings in medium gauge. It’ll blow your mind! 👊🏼

@billderinbaja38836 жыл бұрын
Roger, if what you describe in accurate then there was something wrong with that particular instrument. Gibson is making some great guitars, too bad it didn't work for you.
@roger89816 жыл бұрын
I don't think walnut is a particularly good tone wood and I should have known better but with small hands I have never been happy with Gibsons. I really had high hopes for this guitar but should have tried it out longer at the store. The place was very busy that day and noisy..oh well I traded it for a Taylor 810 that I am very happy with.
@billderinbaja38836 жыл бұрын
Taylor makes some great instruments, I really like their necks. Here is clip of a Walnut B&S Gibson... this is my guitar, Gibson Jackson Browne Signature... this is an example of walnut done well, personally built by Ren Ferguson... it's not the woods that matter, it's the builder kzbin.info/www/bejne/raHKaH6glNmrra8.

I hate to get sucked in by a troll, but I prefer the Gibson midrange balance as opposed to the mid-light balance of most Martins. As for Collings, they are beautifully built. but they sound to me like Martins, but stiff. And yes, I have tried them all. Surprisingly to me, I liked the square shouldered Hummingbird the best of all.
