Pinpointing the exact area of the paper path that is causing jams on my Konica Minolta 1200 Pro digital printing press. Probably similar for the newer models as well. I'm excited to hook up some lights in the future, if my idea works. Thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing!

Some more stuff to check for J-3901 Codes. Underneath the belt cleaner unit is a sensor that sits horizontally. It can collect dust and cause some strange intermittent jams. You may also need to check the three conveyance rollers next to the sensors. They can swell up and slide off the hubs of the rollers. NCR paper can cause the rollers to swell up over time. I think the green ADU handle and the ADU front covers need to come off. The fuser unit and belt unit will need to come out too. The belt cleaner is held in with four screws and a couple of grounding wires. I have had certain jobs with high coverage cause jams in document feeders. Changing the direction or side that is fed first can help with jams. Optical sensors don't always like high coverage.

thanks for the education. I'll have to take a look at that sensor.

I run Blazer gloss 100# txt and 80# txt and cover. I like it so far. Running on an Xante Enpress. No issues so far. Still having issues getting 60 offset and envelopes here in Ohio. Even so issues getting colored bond. Western States envelope is 55 to 60 days on custom orders to be made and 32- 38 days on normal stock orders if they are out. Like #9 window. It's crazy out there. So ordering stock where and when I can. Have a good one brother! Stay safe out there!

We had a very tricky jamming error with our 6136P, this machine is positioned near a window front, every day at around 1pm the machine started jamming .. long story short, the sun was at a specific angle and shined right into a sensor (can't remember which one) and jammed the machine.

Face Down vs Face Up: Face down will start printing soon after it has started processing the job. Face up it will process the entire job before printing. So, if you have a large document, I've had the Fiery choke and stop. I think ultimately it is just a memory issue.
@ReggattaZenyatta
@ReggattaZenyatta 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's also my guess. If this occurs and for some reason you don't want to switch to printing face down I'd suggest to send the job in parts to the machine (i.e. page 1-50, then 51-100 etc.) to make the files smaller.
@justaprinter
@justaprinter 2 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. Although I would have thought that the software would just reverse the page RIP sequence to rip last page first.
@gregbatch
@gregbatch 2 жыл бұрын
@@justaprinter That was my thought. Then I had to run a very large document face up and wondered why it was taking an incredibly long time for the first sheet to come out. When I looked it was still processing. Didn't print until the entire file was processed.

A lot of good comments here on the Fiery hanging issue. I have encountered situations where files with a lot of vector content, including a large number of fonts, have been troublesome to print. Colleagues have noted that files that have had the vectors rasterized prior to printing, while larger, sometimes much larger, can rip and print without the system hanging. As others have indicated, possibly relates to a combination of ram, disc space, and the amount of processing required? A lot of unknowns!

Forget the pole, wire a siren or car horn into the signal tower's error light. Productivity increase guaranteed. Actually, you were talking about phone notifications, they have industrial contact closure devices that will send you an e-mail or push notification. You could wire one into the light contacts.

My guess is besides labor shortages and sick outs is that consumables that are used by paper manufacturers like chemicals, pulp wood, corrugated boxes, pallets, etc etc as well as parts to keep their machines up and running are becoming hard to come by and that we are seeing the trickle down effects. Throw in the logistics issues in trucking and transportation and the supply chain pipeline slows to a crawl and may even stop at some point before things get better. 12 countries have woke up and done away with all covid restrictions so hopefully the rest will follow their lead and things will start to get back to normal. We can hope & pray anyway.

Adding a pole to the lights is not needed. Hang a mirror high up on the wall at the end of the room. You'll be able to aee it fine. If a mirror costs too much, grab some foam core board or even posterboard or cardboard left from a delivery. Hit it it with spray adhesive and glue down some aluminum foil, shiny side out. This will cost next to nothing. Works fine. You'll be able to see the light color from anywhere.

6:43 at the expense of blocking the alarm lamp, monitor. hang, in the right corner, an ordinary mirror, as in buses that are hung above the door. fasten it at such an angle that the alarm can be seen from the place where it is not visible. you can fix the mirror on the mount, as for monitors that are mounted on the wall. or buy the same, bus, convex mirror. such mirrors, in your shops, are hung up to observe the buyers who are in the blind viewing zone. I hope google translator translated my message correctly.

I would first check the hard drive on the Fiery first, it's 10x more likely to be failing/have failed than having a bad RAM stick. You can connect the drive to a different computer and run Crystal Disk Info or if you can remote desktop on the Fiery, there should be a portable version of Crystal Disk Info that you can copy to a USB stick and run the program directly from the Fiery and it will report to you the health of the drive that is installed.

I have had it on Xerox machines, when printing faceup or face down will cause jams... Very odd, i've always assumed it was a problem with the paper curling after hitting the fuser. The other option is to flip the paper over in the tray. I'm guessing it's doing the same thing?
@justaprinter
@justaprinter 2 жыл бұрын
Its weird. It wouldn't jam, it would just stop printing the job.
@david486038
@david486038 2 жыл бұрын
@@justaprinter I think it maybe to do with processing. When it prints the job one way, (face up) it processes while printing and stopping for a little while then prints a few more sheets. the other way it will process the whole job, wait and the print. maybe it hangs up when printing and processing at the same time on the fiery? Maybe try prosessing before sending to the print queue.

Man, you need a rest--a Sabbath day kind of rest! You work too much! I see that the printing press has a Dell monitor just like I have a Dell keyboard. I call my computer my "Keyboard," because it is my strong typewriter. Well, anything that man had made is not perfect like man himself. You may need some Dell all-in-one PCs to connect to your presses, so there would be no need for tower cases stack on top of the press. I hate to see a "gentleman" like you go down. I hope you will not reach an era to lose one single job.
