I adore this music! My dad was a straight up Jibaro and he’s gone now. He would blast this music early in the morning. Damn! I miss my papi. ❤

Grew up listening to real cuatro (4 double strings) music and the artists from my Dad's early years as a boy growing up on the hacendado.

This music brings many beautiful memories for me and makes me extremely emotional. I have always felt música Jibara deep in my soul and heart. As it reminds me of my grandparents and their home in Corozal PR...

I was raised with this beautiful music. My grandparents, Juan and Julia Mercado Vegas.were from Ponce. My uncle’s were also musicians. This music is the only thing that gives me so much enjoyment. I just can’t stand still when the music starts. If I’m not carrying one of my grandchildren and dancing. I’m fine dancing with myself.💃🏻🕺🏼👏👏👏🤙🏽❤️

My dad was a beautiful Puerto Rican/ American. He was raised in Puerto Rico and America. He was the best of both cultures. He was a WWII Medic, Married my mom... An American... English/Irish. These recordings bring back my childhood too. Every Christmas or celebration they loved to dance to this sort of music. What a beautiful memory they have given me. Sure wish they could be here for this moment, I'd love to see their dance just one more time. This certainly tugs at my heart. The music will always be beautiful to me.

That's black music right that. That type of guitar is African type of guitar. Combine with trumpets and you got some G shit!

No it’s it’s pure Puerto Rican hillbilly music people of the mountains

@@barbarawhelan541 Afro-Latino correction, emphasis on the Afro- part. There is nothing white Puerto Rican (and yes -ez-surnamed Spaniard people are white with Frank Lopez English accents, not Latin with Latin English accents as your Riveras, Delgados [you know Nuyoricans], or Italians are) about this type of music. Puerto Rican music is the flamenco guitar of Spain. Salsa and reggaeton - Nuyorican.

@@robjackson5245 no this is full Rican music hence the Jibaro in the title.

@@phillyboul3117 I think what the person meant is that it's a mixture of African rhythms and European rhythms which is true. However, it's a mixed music, not a Black music. A Black music would be Bomba.
