I hate react channels. Always did, felt that they didn’t make sense and were riding off of others hard work. This is not that. This channel is people getting exposed to something they weren’t before and we’ve watched you gain a new appreciation for something you may have overlooked before. This channel is special for that. I’ll continue to watch your content regularly. Thank you

This is why you never knock off something just for being new, you just gotta trust the process and understand that there are people in this world that transform things into beautiful subject matter Lostinvegas are a great precursor to this movement!

@Vicente Peralta2 Yeah your right lol. I said that back in 2014. My brother was playing his album early in the morning when it was out. And I was saying this songs are lame. Then he came and played Fire Squad for me. Bro look at me now 😂 I fuck with Cole heavy now. People just have to give his songs a chance. It's a mentally thing.

@@Yeesh69 LMFAO that's a really biased view point. I love Cole but he can definitely come off as "boring" to certain people because his albums are more laid back. Personally I love Cole's style but let's not kid ourselves and be delusional he has some tracks that are definitely not peak Cole.

No, J cole wrote the album himself. The whole album isn't even about his friend. She's mine, foldin clothes, etc. All had to do with J Cole's life. Every single song on the album (including this one) was written by J Cole himself

PLEASE READ! It’s about J Coles friend and in one of his first songs “ the storm “ he talks about his buddy Sean and how he was in love with this girl named Nina and how she screwed him over, then in his song “ dreams “ he talks about how Sean is obsessed with Nina and how they meet but in both songs he’s obsessed and then in powertrip he says “ even wrote the songs dreams about her “ and in powertrip he comes back to Nina from fame and money and he says “ the city my thrown now “ But in change he talks about the prelude and accepting his death and he knows what he’s done, it’s says his name is James mcmallen jr at the end of change but it’s actually Sean, In 4 your eyez only Sean writes the song for his daughter BUT he says “ what the f*** we naming this girl? I named her Nina the prettiest name that I could think of for the prettiest thing my eyes have ever seen “ So at the end of the day he never got Nina but he was all about her but he was proud he was a father and he left that message for Nina his daughter

I’m not sure if you guys know but he is from North Carolina and went to St Johns university in New York City and was studying to become a lawyer. He would wait outside of Jay Z’s studio trying to give him his mixtape and Jay Z took it one day and he was told it wasn’t good enough so he kept working and got Jay Z another tape and got signed by him. He’s everything you want in a rapper someone who has seen unbelievable things in a poor town moved away and worked on his education and also his raps. He’s brilliant and uses his platform to inspire and tell great stories

Dan Lavis what makes you think he isn’t? No hate in that question and I fully respect the fact that people have different opinions as to what makes an artist great. But I’m honestly curious as to why you feel he isn’t one of the best in the hip hop genre.
@streetlightsglowing3809
@streetlightsglowing3809 5 жыл бұрын
diego fernandez at first I loved Cole, he was the artist to get me into hip hop, however as I explored the genre more and more I realised that he doesn’t really have a unique/trademark style. Artist I consider GOATS like MF DOOM, someone who portrayed himself as a villain throughout his career and was notorious for his incredible rhyming and deep voice or Kanye, a product of Jay Z who’s known for keeping his listeners on their toes whether it be with his antics or his constant stylistic change, both have their own sound and goal with their music. I’m not denying the fact that Cole is a very talented lyricist I just feel as though he doesn’t bring much to the genre and could easily be replaced.
@df659
@df659 5 жыл бұрын
Dan Lavis sorry for the late reply. Honestly tho... yes, he doesn’t have his own sound. He doesn’t follow what’s popular and does his craft based on the story he wants to share. It would be the same debate as if we were in the 90s... who was better BIG or Pac... BIG was the greatest MC of the time. PAC tho... he was a poet. He told stories in a way that it didn’t matter if his rhymes and flow were simple. He engaged you and caused emotions to come out and be relatable that made you over look it. It’s the same with Cole. He tells stories and the way he sets up his bars and his delivery could make “where, there, share, care” sound like the most ingenious words in the world. That’s what makes him a GOAT to me. Sticking to being a true artist. Are there better MCs out there? Sure. But there’s a reason Cole is what he is.

Lost Ones is so deep but musically it was a bit basic. If he took that concept again or same lyrics or Lost Ones with his level of mastery of production now it would be so amazing.

I'd love to hear a reaction to Kendrick's Keisha's Song (Her Pain)! I think it's a criminally underrated song - the cadence and alliteration on that particular song is groundbreaking, and the subtle finger snaps throughout the beat are honestly genius. Subject matter is quite heavy though, similar to "Brenda's Got A Baby", which I believe Kendrick was attempting to emulate (he even name drops the Tupac song in his lyrics). Section.80 is Lamar's most melodically pleasing album imo, and on the whole it is a complete journey from the first track to the last.

12:24 J Cole made a song called 3 wishes about this exact friend and how they'd spend nights over, it's a great song touching heavy topics id recommend you guys react to it or even listen to it on your own. (Edit) it's a two minute song btw I know you'll appreciate that.
