J Cole did the right thing. He saw what the industry was trying to do. The industry was hoping they would go at each other, things would escalate, and these executives could make a profit. The music industry doesn’t care about Black men. Also Beefing is not an element of hip hop. Battling is an aspect of Hip Hop, but beefing is something more sinister.

Exactly. Bunch of weirdos who don't think pushing positivity is not a part of hip hop. You're not a true "hip hop head" if you don't know there's different levels to the genre and can't accept that its always about aggression and beefs. Love all of it or don't mess with it all. 🤷🏾♀️

I have no issue with a grown man deciding to stop lying about his emotions in his lyrics. He loves that man and felt like shit pretending he didn't. I understand that. I have felt slighted by a friend but worked to rebuild our friendship because I loved her more than that issue we had. I’m checking it twice and I’m getting them hit.” “I studied the greats, I’m the greatest right now.” “I be staying out the way, but if beef come around. Put a M on your head, you Luigi brother now.’ “Fucking with Cole is bold, but its impeding on your health.” “Rhyming with me is the biggest mistake.” “We the big three like we started the league but lately I feel like Muhammad Ali.” “I ain't into sorta kinda, dissin' n-ggas I'm borderline addicted to slaughter” “I ain’t afraid of you n-ggas, I’ll end up fading you n-ggas.” Bro’s been begging for the smoke for *YEARS* and folded immediately before Kendrick even responded. J Cole didn’t feel bad dissing Lil’ Pump, Smokepurpp, Noname, Yachty, Uzi, or Kanye West (who was having a public meltdown btw). Ducking the lyrical fade is very anti-hip hop. We respect the dude who squabbles even if he lost as long as he held his own.

My issue is that Cole made it seem like he hasn't been talking about how he wanted to be competitive in rap (very recently too) and how he's better than all these other rappers, how they are not worthy to be on his albums, etc. and when the opportunity arose to prove it, he's saying that fans are blood thirsty. He created the expectation/environment so how is it fair to try to throw it back on the audience for expecting you to deliver on what you've been saying unprovoked?
@ImmigrantB18 ай бұрын
Exactly... He's been on fire lately. And now he's trying to quench it.😢😢

I think the word for rap is compete/competition. You dont have to have beef to compete. You can bar up and try to out do each other without dissing each other. Unfortunately, some folks don't get that and think it has to be all beef and disrespect to prove you're better. "Rap battles are a lot of mens reality tv." Angel said a bar with that one lmao

Cant wait to see them both in the WNBA, Taurasi is a HATER You don't HAVE to battle to be considered one of the greats. We considered J Cole one of the greats before this and he never really battled anyone (unless you count when Noname made him admit he doesn't read). But he just spent two years doing features that have all been threats and open invitations for challengers. Then somebody challenged. Then he responded. Then he backtracked and blamed everyone else. Holding himself accountable is great, but the reason he has to hold himself accountable is bc he stepped out of character for 2 years and it caught up with him.
