whaaaat there's like two kicks on this jawn. One sounds very compressed and knocking and it only hits on 1 and 3 but the other one plays around with the bass more.. I'm always surprised by how many different sounds jd used for the drums alone even though on the first listen it might sound real minimalist
@jordanhenderson33077 жыл бұрын
Broo I thought I was overthinking about that, It sounds like the kicks are stabs of bass sometimes the way he filtered them it's nuts
@kofiperry197 жыл бұрын
yeah it could probably be that

Having some variety in the kicks and bass is HUGE for grooves, timbre variations in general alone can make the difference between sounding flat and groovy, even pure pulses make you wanna move when they imply different patterns by their timbre. There's a lot that goes into making sounds belong together fully the way different words a single singer uses clearly come from one source, and there's many ways to achieve it. You can have various sounds that go together by default, pull them together somehow, or create variations on a single sound to do the inverse. Coupling different e-pianos to create phrases together can really highlight their characteristics, even bringing out vowel sounds. With just 2 playing various notes, it can very distinctly sound like a phrase goes ''ee oo ah'', for example. You can of course use filters including vowel shapes to do it to a single sound, and it's not just filters, the volume ADSR alone does a lot, pitch gliding and grace notes' effects are all interwoven, the options are limitless. For an example regarding how I often pull together various hats, claps and other medium-high percussion, ANY amount of them, I use a cool trick I stumbled upon by chance using Full Bucket's freq shifter: If you have 2 instances and set them both to -5k pure wet, it somehow cancels out most of the shifting but has this really cool lo-fi sound, I usually have 4 to repeat the effect once. Put this on a bus, load up tons of hats you don't even like, and see how they sound, it's awesome.

Every time when I think about you I feel the doubt through, everything I was here without you You made me feel whole an old soul less traveled on the roads I unravel what is told Paddle through the swamp of life looking for a princess toad Battle through the darkest nights with my fists of gold Keep my scripts at grips close to my fingers with a mix Smoke lingers, get my fix, feel her stingers My elixir sips leave you with them sticky lips And hippie hits might leave you in a tricky fix
