Doom 2016 is the one game I can always go back once in a while and jump in and massacre some demons. With Eternal, I just can't do it the same.

Imo, it's infinity better than ETERNAL, and I do love me some ETERNAL, at least up til after the mars mission, then it all degenerates into boring samey slog. 2016 is just non-stop badassery!

Eternal might have better gameplay elements such as the dash but Doom 2016 will always have the best tone out of the whole series

@@eight__822 I dislike the dash......the whole point of retro shooters is that you're always moving at 110% speed, all the time, non-stop. And, as someone who's not the most dexterous, trying to constantly implement all the button presses is actually really difficult.

I honestly thought the opposite. With 2016, as much as i love the game, it can get easy to cheese (Super shotgun and ballista with the rich get richer rune. Need i say more?), and the last 3 levels especially are painfully easy (though i freely admit i haven't played on nightmare). With Eternal, it never stops to hold your hand, the level themes keep changing, and it never gets to a point where i can exploit a thing. As for goldenfry's opinion on the tone...I understand. I personally love the more varied, self aware, cartoonish nature of eternal, but the grittier tone has its own charm. I mean i'm someone waiting for a more 64-esque toned modern doom, so who am i to judge? As for the dash...okay I still like it, but I could understand others who don't.

@@ASLB247 You can play 2016 with just SSG and Gauss Cannon, but the other weapons are so satisfying once you get good with em. For instance, the chaingun is considered bad, but with the turret mod you just shred through everything, and it feels like you're an unstoppable killing machine! 2016 doesn't force you into playing the way some game designer thinks you should, it lets you discover your own playstyles for yourself, and that to me is why it's the most fun. As for the runes, you can use em, but I feel that aside from the movement one, they're not at all needed. And I have to address your comment about hand holding..........ETERNAL literally tells you how to beat the bosses.

I wish Henrickson voiced Hayden! I had thought for the longest time that Peter Cullen had just done his Optimus Prime voice for the game. During research I was genuinely surprised to find out it was instead the voice of Reinhart/J Jonah Jameson from Spiderman 2018

I won't know for sure until I make a Doom Eternal video, but I'm currently leaning toward 2016. Eternal is good, I just can't help but think of the purple no-fun-floors
