Another oldie from my youth, Tribal Trouble is a fun little RTS game that I recommend. Especially since it has become open source. I'll have to take the nostalgia goggles and dive into some real jank for the next video.

The music for this game is iconic. Oh how i have missed the simplistic times when this game was new. I use to spend hours on this on the demo version because my mom wouldn't let me buy the full game. Time to relive the past!

Thank you for watching the video! Tribal Trouble's a game that has always stuck with me over the years. It or the demo has been installed on every computer I've had since I found it in like 2007. Also holy shit hello! From what I've been able to gather the Remastered version was a passion project by an inexperienced team. I would have loved to see it succeed, but passion projects don't always pan out. I've had my own fair share. But the failure of a project is not important. The lessons learnt and the experience far outweigh the failure. Great music by the way!

@@mustafamarini4822 so, thats been my hope for over a decade now lol. That someone would come along and, while developing it, simplify it and develop a relationship with me and other interested parties along the way. My philosophy is that of "get it working first, then discuss potential changes." The last guy in charge of a revival project was younger than most of the old players, and while he was incredibly talented, he definitely had an attitude of "this is mine now." It is more than possible, I run the facebook page for the game. Anyone is welcome to message it and get into personal contact regarding it. I will help revive it where I can. I wouldve done it myself with my limited experience and quick learning, but my personal focus on my life as an artist takes up too much of my time and resources.

This was my favourite game of all time. So so many hours spent playing. Used to love the multiplayer aspect. I played the demo for years until I was finally able to purchase the full version. Needs to make a serious comeback!!

I remember having a good time on the first game, but the second was just a pay-to-win mess that was far too focused on making you fork cash over to get anywhere.

To shed some light on what happened with TTR, I was in the discord and it was going well for quite some time, but the lead dev started to get very egotistical and drive away a lot of the members and eventually decided to stop working on it, and wiped the discord as well as all the code we had put together to get it all working. I am currently working on creating my own server infrastructure!

@@DopedBones yeah it was a fun little game for what it was and just because of the age of the game it really is hard to make the mp work. There weren’t really standards for how things were done back then so it makes it tricky to figure out their methods and reverse engineer it

with what happen to tribal trouble remastered , the guy just gave up on it . did not give it a reason . just said it was shut down . it was fun while it lasted . got to play at least 4-5 more online matches in the development stage of tribal trouble remastered . .i think to believe one of the listed problems was (to run a server ) meaning to have it online and running would cost additional funds per month and the possibility was thinking it wouldn't make enough profit to keep it running . it was being discussed on discord but problem was no one had money at the time and i think it just stopped there. to try to get it to that moment again would mean to restart the process all over again from start. which the guy that did the coding to somehow make it have a server and to be online for just that span of tribal trouble remastered , he said was really hard work . also another problem was even though its pretty much open source now , someone still owns the *copy rights * or the game in its self and the other problem was trying to reach that certain person or group of people and figuring out if they can even get the rights to the game from them which also came back to the money problem.

pretty much 1 guy that had the smarts and the know how to get the game up and running technically online , and the rest of the team were die hard tribal trouble fans/players that tryed to work together to get website up and wiki about the game and like that video for remaster you tube video for TTR he did a great job and was a good friend . but once it came to the financial part of it just kinda crashed after that .

I have downloaded the binary and built the game, but when I try to open it, it tells me the game is damaged and cannot be opened and gives me a prompt to eject the disk image. Anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like a corrupted install to me. Try uninstalling and reinstalling it if you haven't already. Otherwise I guess try installing it on a different drive if you can.

i cant make this work for some reason it just wont let me play it as full game keeps me in the demo... also i changed grapich settings so now my game is 10% visible with 4k resolution i guess XD

Did you put the registration file in the game install folder? If not its in the binaries folder of the download. All you have to do is put it in the install folder with the .exe and it should work. I never even attempted 4k resolution but that sounds cursed. My best guess is to try to change the resolution back in game if you can or to try and find a graphics config file you can edit. I also recommend using windowed mode if you can.

Its a pretty good game used to play the demo all the time filling my island with buildings and a huge army. The "Remastered version" did work and I played it with my sister. Sadly the servers are offline now. I think the devs fell apart. But it was a working multiplayer.

The demo for this game was superb, I played it more than the actual game I think. That's a shame to hear about the Remastered version. I was holding out hope that someone was still working on it

Remastered actually focused on multiplayer though. Not that you're missing out anything, because Remastered didn't improve very much from the original,

I've never tried, but you probably can since that wouldn't require going through the nonexistent central server.

Pretty sure it still only tries to connect to the central server...but this isnt a bad idea

Tribal Trouble 2 wasn't going to succeed. I enjoyed it for a bit, but they didn't include things like playable African Natives as you were unable to pick between African Natives or Norse Vikings. It didn't innovate very much compared to the original game, aside from including a new treasure defense and some new enemies like the Einherjar from The Chant mission. Remastered from the start looked like it wasn't going to succeed either, seeing it improved very little from the original.

You have to take the registration file (it is in the binaries folder of the download) and place it into a specific file. I'm assuming you are using newer version of windows so the file path will look like this C:\Users\Username\TribalTrouble\ . Otherwise check the readme that comes with the game, it has most if not all the info you need to run it.

@@DopedBones so i did all that my dude, once i click my username tribal trouble wasnt popping up so i moved the whole file to my username setting and its still not working im so confused

@@papasantana7149 after installing the game exe. You need to Download the master file(Zip file) from github. The registry file is in tribaltrouble/binaries/registration Drag and drop that registration file to your C:\Users\Username\TribalTrouble\ or where you decided for (game install folder) Then launch the game and it should show the full version.
