Ms. Marguerite's speaks perfect American English and I can tell immediately that she is educated. So precious to have her as a bilingual: Perfect Cantonese and perfect American English. The best part is the Mahjong and Dim Sum. We have so much to offer to the world.

@@carolcheung876 Yas, dahling!! you got my point, don't like the other pity haters, whatever. All I wanna say is her language ability is freaking awesome. Obviously, she's American, she's got an American accent, but the way she speaks Cantonese just like a native speaker. I couldn't even recognize she's Asian American or American if I just hear her speak. What a precious bilingual❤❤❤

廣東話的確唔算好聽,但係佢係我嘅母語,無可取代。謝謝 Sue

I can listen to her talk all day, her voice is so soothing, no wonder she was in the radio business
Oh my goodness! If I closed my eyes, I didn't know you are an American. It is unbelievable you love Cantonese. Cantonese is the most difficult dialect in Chinese language. You handle it perfectly, however. 😘

Cantonese is actually a language not a dialect.

Sue does capture the essence of HK-styled Cantonese. More precise than most of the locals, even the TV personnel. We ought to be more particular, rather than using the LAZY tones on most occasions. Great teacher!
As a native Cantonese speaker, I have no idea how to teach Cantonese to people who want to learn the language. I was never taught Cantonese grammars at school, and I don't know how to count the 9 tones. I am really glad that people like Sue are willing to share their experience on learning Cantonese, and teach the world. Greatly appreciate! Also, I agree that Cantonese sounds a bit rough/mean (I feel myself being more mean when I speak Cantonese LOL), but yes it is a very fun and expressive language.

I had the same problem. As a native Cantonese speaker, I struggled to teach Caucasians Cantonese in London. The college where I worked only gave me a textbook with all Yale pronounication which I had never read before and it only had some Chinese characters next to the Yale pronounication as parallel translation. It took me a while to learn how to pronounce it and understand what the pronounication means.

The most fluent Cantonese I ever heard from a foreigner and even better than so many local HK people . You have at least 9.5 coz not even many locals can be a 10.
