J. Geils is one of the Funkiest Soul, Rock & Roll concert party bands of all time!! Just fire! They are from Boston but cut their teeth in Detroit, Michigan which they called their home. I lived in Michigan all my life and these guys were here all the time! One of the best live concert bands you'll ever see. I had seen them at least 6 times growing up. We had a jukebox in the high school cafeteria and you would hear J. Geils everyday! Before this song even started I knew you were going to totally dig it!! 👍You're look on your face when it began gave it away! 😁 That's funny you said you were going to stop the song, because it looked like you were going to! Great reaction! Much enjoyed! This is one band you definitely want to go down the rabbit hole with!! Peace brother! ✌

One of the great bands from Boston, Mass. , The J. Geils Band was a force of nature in a live setting. Lead singer Peter Wolf is a whirlwind, Guitarist Jerome Geils pronounced Guy-els, is solid not flashy, Bassist Danny Kleinmann keeps it steady, Drummer Steven Jo Bladd kicks it hard, Seth Justman on Keyboards has his Leslie Speaker spinnin' fast, and Magic Dick on Harmonica brings it home. These boys rock it HARD. Saw them live only once, and it was one of the best shows i ever saw, and I've seen lots.

I know this is 2 years old but I just discovered your channel and I think I like your style of waiting to the end. It's one of my J. Geils Band's favorite songs, but it always reminds me of a tragic story. I knew a guy in a juvenile joint in Illinois in 1977 who could perform all of the music in this song with his mouth and throat, beginning at about the 6:13 mark in your video. It was beyond fascinating! Sad story. He wound up in Vegas dating a stripper. He got caught up in the meth scene and ended up killing his girlfriend and is now doing life in a Nevada prison. I'm sure by now that you've seen a live version. This band was one of the funkiest white bands I've ever heard! In terms of white soul, Rare Earth recorded for Motown and won a B.E.T. award for their rendition of "I'm Losing You". For reference, let this white boy explain that my first experience with funk was when my sister turned me onto Sly in 1972 (if Sly and the Family Stone isn't funk, then funk doesn't exist!!) and continued with the likes of James Brown, Parliament, Bootsy, and Rose Royce... I'm a soul brother of another color! I dig musicians way more than "artists". Synth music has no place in my world. I could go on, but I believe I've made my point and will leave it at that. If you haven't explored the music of Sly Stone (Sylvester), you are missing out...
@youtold7727 Жыл бұрын
I lived Vegas 30 years. Sorry about your friend I know that meth is the darkest out of all drugs, it’s a blast at first sleeping with stripper sex is 50 times better on meth but eventually bam! It got me mid-90’s thankfully I recovered but scars. You mentioned Sly Family Stone I was a craps dealer and one of my jobs was at a casino that catered to locals, I dealt to these 5 guys for nine months before the truth came out about who the one he was manager of Sly Stone. He was married to Rose who’s Sly’s sister. His name is Bubba Banks. He’d come in and I’d say hey how’s it going my friend and he’d say there’s my homie then when I found out who he was ah it was cool.

I remember when I was little, my dad had an 8 track tape of the greatest hits of 1973 or 1974 (whatever year it came out). This song and THE TROGLODYTE SONG prompted my mom to forbid me and my very young ears to listen to this. SOOO, I put on our headphones and listened so no one could hear me. In those days, we had cabinet-style stereos that had a turntable, radio, 8 track and in some cases, cassette players. I kept a record on the turntable going so she would think I was listening to the record. LOL.
