今治地方の伝統である「継ぎ獅子」が４年ぶりの春祭りで行われました。今治市波止浜の龍神社の継ぎ獅子を含む獅子舞を動画にまとめています。フルバージョン、ダイジェスト版、継ぎ獅子版の３種類の動画をアップしています。
急に思い付いて撮影したので、完全に準備不足で三脚もないという状態のため、動画的には見苦しいシーンも見受けられますが、準備してても大して違いないだろうなと考えてそのまま公開しました(^^;

Tsugijishi is a acrobatic standing performance that is performed in Imabari city and Ochi district of Ehime Prefecture. People stand on top of each other and wear lion masks and dance. The sight of them getting higher and higher, from two-tiered to three-tiered to four-tiered, is thrilling and powerful. It is designated as an intangible folk cultural property of Ehime Prefecture.
The origin of tsugijishi dates back to the mid-Edo period, when the villagers of Toriu village decided to add a lion dance procession to the festival of Mishima Shrine to make it more lively. It is a local performing art that expresses the wish to get closer to the gods and to grow rice high in the sky.
In Imabari city, tsugijishi is performed at spring festivals from May to June every year. This year, it was held for the first time in four years. You can enjoy it at various shrines in the city. Each group has different costumes and skills, and has its own personality and attractions. Tsugijishi is a lion dance that fascinates the audience with its acrobatic performance.
