Nah, you're probably confusing it with someplace else. Fordlândia was Henry Ford's foolish dream, his attempt to get rubber without going to Mr. Goodyear. However, Rubber doesn't like to grow in plantations, at least in Amazônia, and by clearing the rainforest and planting only rubber trees, the soil washed away with the rains, and a leaf-blight insect attacked the trees. He also made his local workers wear American clothes and eat American food, even dance the polka. It was a bad place.

Funny thing is? Fordlandia is a real place in the Amazon that the Ford company had built to harvest rubber trees and was abandoned when it failed.
