Hoseoks new song is fire. Words can't begin to explain just how Fire and Dope this song is. I live the old hiphop beat of the song and I also love how catchy it is. I love how the lyrics rhyme with eachother and I love his voice in this song aswell. The MV is amazing as I love how burnt-out everything is, I so love how "arson" is written is fire. I also love the message behind the lyrics too. Thos side of Hoseok I'm loving I can't wait to hear the entire album now.

I really love how raw and real the lyrics are for this album. In this particular track, he was talking about how he realized that he has set the world on fire when it all just began with his burning passion to achieve his dreams. BTS has always said they never expected the level of fame and impact they have right now and though it is a privilege, it is equally terrifying. There is also the question of: does he stop burning now since he has achieved his initial dreams and has everything he wants? And Arson is actually the last song in the album so it kind of leaves you hanging.

Not enough people recognize exactly how terrifying that height is. They've expressed it so honestly. Reminds me of Interlude: Shadow, Black Swan, Outro: Tear, and even Louder than Bombs. One thing I love about everything bts members is how raw the lyrics are and how all of them write the lyrics instead of handing a song (not that there is anything wrong with it) but just how authentic it is and just how creative this is and honestly, this type of song/genre like his song “more” might not be everyone’s tea but just the amount of experimental and the creative artistry behind just the song and MV is beautiful and also the song is about Jhope basically saying he achieved everything he kind of wanted at first it is money greed but he realized this is empty and now he wonders if lyrics “Do I put out the fire, or burn even brighter” As in should he stop because He basically achieved everything? He have money now, nice house. He already got number 1 billboard so kind of what’s the point? But this is basically why bts is on a break (not breakup) but they kind of lost some motivation after the pandemic the english songs like dynamite, butter etc and another song in the pop level that doesnt have much meaning and to sing in a different language and the song written by someone else got nominated for the Grammys felt kind of empty and the members felt empty because the other koreans songs have so much more meaning and is authentic themselves where themselves wrote it so they are talking a break the find themselves to find a new goal. But in the end, of MV jhope chose to burn even brighter as he lay next to “arson” and not “put out the fire” even tho he kind of achieved what he wanted to achieve (sorry for the long comment lmao)

The whole album "Jack in the box" is freaking masterpiece..when you read the lyrics of each track, it hits very different, telling a story, his cadence, his flow, the production! do not play with this man & his art, he's serious about it, he has went beyond! Hoseok outdid himself again.."Hope world" & "Jack in the box" is like full 360° turn! (Tho from daydream we know the depth of his lyrics which introduces us to harsh reality of his/their lives as idols, as BTS in "hope world" also this song gives me a lil bit "hangsang" vibes, which is again from "hope world" so it's also not surprising to see this side of hobi..not that different from hope world if we think, but surely the big difference in vibe) this album is so personal & vulnerable, giving such classic hip hop like you can hear his influences but it's also so freshly hoseok, completely him but also a new side of him! i may be hugely out of line with this interpretation since i’m neither an army nor a j-hope fan (tho that might change after this insane song) so i might lack context. I think arson can be seen as a story about jhopes carrier in a way. How he gave it his everything, like you said in the beginning about ambition, and how he burned everything and ran endlessly to reach his goal (for i think over a decade now; not even counting trainee years). It sparked a flame, one he started just for himself because he wanted to become an idol and he wanted to be famous and popular etc, but it set everything on fire (with bits being the most well known, popular and award winning k-pop group on this entire planet). he lit the flame that created the fire, he and his fellow members are the arsonists. And it was fun and thrilling. But now he’s reached all his goals and dreams, it’s done, he technically has it all. He is famous and popular and rich and wins awards and has fans all around the globe. Things have cooled down (with bits being on hiatus? idk) but he sees all the marks he’s left with his fire. and it’s still burning, and it will burn on unless he himself puts it out (like bts and bts members stopping music won’t be accepted unless they themselves want to stop, not for other reasons like their company or other complications) He’s burned out by now but can’t stop, he needs the fire to live now, he wants more (like his cgi heart) so now he’s asking the question to put the fire out, when it’s the best and there’s applause (like the idiom) or if he should burn even brighter, if he can still go on and create even greater things. (i think it’s a rhetorical question because the album speaks for itself) And the way everything caught on flames, how bts conquered the world, was criminal, straight up arson. so yah i feel like that’s one possible interpretation, but it’s only based on the english translation of the lyrics (after watching the mv religiously and speed running most available reactions) so it might be missing out on some intricate details found in the original korean ones.
