I'm glad others pointed out how rehearsed he was before the performance. He spent months in Korea preparing with his crew, let alone in his own studio. Hobi is a perfectionist. He writes, produces, sings, raps, dances and has choreography skills like no one else. AND he lost so much weight before the actual appearance that many wondered if he was sick. No....he was just wrapped up in getting it all perfect! I love how you can relate to a rehearsal and was catching his thought process and then execution with band and choreography. His years of performing certainly did not make him arrogant in thinking he didn't have to rehearse! In panning the audience while he started to perform showed TONS not having previously experience JHope with mouth hanging open!!! Have to say.....it was the "garden gloves" that had me chuckling!❤❤❤😂

As I rewatch this, I'm reminded again how courageous Hobi is for doing this, the first member to perform solo on a stage this massive. He paved the way for the other members. I have so much respect for him. The part when he said, what if there were only two ARMYs there? I think it's crazy how they can be this successful and yet still doubt themselves. Yoongi was offered to do a stadium tour by the staff, but he chose arenas because he didn't think there was much demand for him. Just crazy.

the show was in the making and rehearsal when he and all the crew and staff were in south korea, they just have 4 days in chicago to fit it to the actual stage and stuff. they usually split it like that since it's more comfortable to prepare the most of the show in seoul where their label and team is

Jimin getting teary-eyed over seeing ARMY cheering Hobi on after the show was so sweet. All of the members have incredible, unique friendships among the group, but there's something especially wholesome about those two. Hobi worked so hard for that one show and he killed it. It was cool to see how on the ball he is about everything behind the scenes. His ears and eyes don't miss a thing. We know he's like that as a dance leader but it was refreshing to see him noticing so much more beyond the actual performance aspects. It's times like this that shows why RM always said he'd pick Hobi as the leader if he had to choose someone other than himself. He leads well without being arrogant or unnecessarily aggressive with his teams.

22:23 actually, from lots of their concert behind the scene footage, when they went off stage after performing, you can see them collapsed and really needed "oxygen." They gave their all to the stage, not holding back at all. Espeacially Jimin and JK, they tend to go really hard, J-Hope at one time told them to pace themselves, giving it all is good, but also need to be professional to keep up the whole setlist. JK once in the middle of concert nearly fainted/ lack of air/ black out, everyone's so worried. SO they really need those athletes oxygen stuff.
@pjmbyul
@pjmbyul Жыл бұрын
Man, they need that oxygen. Their level of dancing and movement makes them athletes. They've nearly fainted many times because of it. The more you watch behind the scenes of their performances, you see them come off stage collapsing. It's serious stuff.

16:30 - I think they're more hands-on when doing their solo work. RM and Suga and J-hope have talked about how they had to make 5-6 decisions a day about many aspects of their albums and promotions. I think maybe it's because when they're doing albums as a group, they talk about everything with Big Hit. The label would ask them, what do you want to talk about in this album, and then I think they flesh it out together,, the concept, the music, everything. And so the burden of making decisions is shared, not just among members but also with Big Hit. When they're doing solo mixtapes and albums, it truly begins with the individual member and their artistic vision. So they want to make sure that everything is in line with that vision.

I’m so glad you saw this ‘behind the scenes’. They earn everything they have with intense practice and J-Hope has been the Dance leader for BTS. He has been the detail man for their live performances for years. Some day, take time to watch the BTS shoot of the MV for On The Street with J-Cole to get this personal side of him. Thank you for your thoughtful reaction to this epic show.

I also loved seeing the respect and gratitude he shows his team throughout this whole thing. Jimin being there also really meant a lot to him. And as soon as they arrived at the hotel afterwards, he turned on a livestream to thank the fans even though he must have been exhausted (Jimin made him turn it off after a while saying he had to sleep!) Must be just pure euphoria, I can’t imagine. I think they meant he was only in the US on location for 4 days, of course he and everyone practiced a lot in the months beforehand as well. Side note, please rewind and watch Jimin’s face in the background as j-hope greets becky g backstage 😂 it never stops being funny to me

I think they only knew about the concert a couple months before it.. as he was a fill in for another artist who couldnt make it. So he did have time to plan everything in advance of being there, he would have been in touch with the band beforehand as well probably via video call or something.. I cant imagine like you said it was all done in 4 days. Also he has worked with The Lab (the dance crew) many times before so it would have been easy for him do that as well. He is a genius, the way he had a hand in almost every part of the planning. But so humble. Hobi killed it! 💜

Totally unrelated, but when you mentioned how he seemed to enjoy/melt more into the dance practice, it reminded of when someone synced up Hobi rapping “Daechwita” at a special performance stage with Yoongi rapping the same verse and noticed that they ride the beat differently. Another person noted that Yoongi tended to be just a little ahead of the beat, likely b/c he is more a producer, while Hobi is generally exactly on or following the beat, likely b/c he is more a dancer.

I understand what you are saying about his preparation. I am sure they prepared for a few months. It's a lot, I think the supporting staff worked separately from Jhope through videos and practicing the dances. And when he came to Chicago, they only had to do a few run-throughs. Also remember he has been doing this for 10yrs now, so I am sure they have found ways to prepare without having to meet in person day after day. Anyway, that's what I would like to believe because a lot of these folks are from the US. Thank you for reacting to the concert and documentary I have been waiting weeks for this! I have watched this concert over 15-20 times and never grow tired of it. Jhope did the Dam... thang. 😀

No he has a doc about the album and his lollapalooza prep I think it was months in advance. Also about the oxygen I was so confused the first time I saw it waaaay back in 2019 I figured it was oxygen but I was like what do they need that for? And then I watch some of their documentaries and MY GOD they be PASSING OUT. They go so hard and the chroeos are so intense Jimin and Jungkook usually are the ones going the hardest especially during some of their most instense setlists back in 2017-2019. Like yeah they definitely need that oxygen 😭 like I'm not sure if you've seen some of their more rigorous choreos or any lice concert footage but I do reccomend they really put the work in. and I hope u check out any of their docu series /documentaries if u ever have the chance.

Regarding how relaxed he seemed when practicing the dancing vs the other performance... He tends to get in his head with the details, so I think just the act of dancing helped with that. I say this as a former dancer and a perfectionist 🙃 (Plus the natural 'happy hormones' that are created when dancing.)

I am not sure how long the prep was but J Hope got slotted in Lollapalooza because another artist couldn't make it. So how much prep was involved, I am not sure. What I can say is BTS only announced their solo endeavors in June at Festa and this concert was staged in late July, a mere 2 weeks after the album release.

Yeah, so as you've probably seen, disney plus has an hour long documentary which goes a but unto the final prodocution of the album and the two or so months of prep leading to lollapalooza. Definitely worth a watch, however given its a disney thing probably hard to react to and post on youtube. Possibly a patreon exclusive if you record it, or just do it on your own time if your curious.
