I'm a die hard Vikings fan. I've watched them for 3 decades. This kid is by far the best QB I've seen them draft ever (coming out of college) and it isn't even close. 1. Comes from a winning pedigree and has proven he can do what it takes to win a championship 2. Never lost a regular season game in college 3. Most efficient 3rd down QB in the history of CFB 4. Best arm in the draft out of the big early round QBs 5. Great accuracy 6. Great mobility 7. Great leadership 8. Multiple scouts said his work ethic in the film room is unmatched. I'll take that over talent any day, and he has both. This kid is going to be fine.

I really like what I've seen from JJ McCarthy so it's a major bummer he's gonna miss all of 2024, but come 2025 I think he's setup to come out of the gates hot assuming his recovery goes well. I subscribe to your current point of view that just because a QB isn't being asked to do it, doesn't necessarily mean he can't(also doesn't mean he can, but I'm not gonna dock a guy points for it either). Michigan just had no real reason to ask him to make a bunch of riskier, low percentage throws, but as you highlighted on the occasions he did he would deliver which made me a believer in him to the point that as a Pats fan if the Commanders had decided to take Drake Maye at 2nd overall instead of Jayden Daniels I'd have actually preferred for them to try to trade down, get an extra pick or two, and get McCarthy who I think would've been a better fit for Alex Van Pelt's west coast style system than Daniels.

I think your point to compare JJ and Herbert at the end is an effect one. Sometimes coaches have different ideas on how to run an offense that it may cloud the ability of some players. Harbaugh loves to run the football and the team was damn good at it, so they asked JJ to play a field general role which he did very well. Now I’m not an expert on the Oregon offense when Herbert was there, but if that offense featured a lot of screens and whatnot why wouldn’t it because the offensive line featured guys like Penei Sewell. I know first hand as a Lions fan that we have the ability to call some plays that no one else can just because we have Penei. Regardless, this should probably be a good lesson for everyone to take into future evaluations. What is the coach calling and why? Who is the personnel?

He’s super athletic, and a sharp decision maker, but is criticized bc he didn’t look like Daniel’s at LSU, only bc he had a better team to lean on. When he was needed, he stepped up, always. He was also the leading candidate for heisman before the harbaugh witch hunt suspension. All this to say he’s gonna be a great pro, and I’m super upset I can’t root for him as he’s in the division. @robe25044 ай бұрын
@@BoHorn He went 8-9 with the Panthers, mainly without CMC. Baker went 1-5 with that same Panther team, but with CMC, and won the South with Tampa the following season. Bryce Young went 2-15 with them. The Panthers O Line was ranked about 30th at the time. The Vikes O Line is currently ranked above average. And DJ Moore, Terrace Marshall and Ian Thomas aren't in the same postcode as Jettas, Addison & TJ. In 2022 he threw the ball as accurately as Kirk did when he led the Vikes to a 13-4 division title. There are plenty of examples of QBs that have struggled early in their careers and become pretty efficient. Kirk Cousins is one. Kyler Murray is probably another one with 2 winning and 3 losing seasons, just like Sam and a 28-36 W/L record slightly better than Sam 's 21-35 record, or Trevor Lawrence and is 20-30 W/L record and one winning season out of 3. Hmmm. I guess that makes them bottom of the league starters too. Sam has got better, just folks that weren't looking didn't see it. It should be a bit more obvious in another 2 or 3 weeks.

@@robe2504 where to start… 8-9 record you are for some reason proud of: 17 starts, 59ish completion %, 3670 yards, 16 TD, 16 INT, avg rate of 77.3. Kirk didnt struggle early in his career really, especially when he became a starter. Murray is pretty lukewarm and I dont care for him, but he didnt struggle nearly the same way Darnold has and from rookie to now has always been a better QB. Trevor Lawrence I have little faith in, as far as struggles you mean a rookie season? Is that your idea of being awful? He had a decent 2nd season and a poor 3rd season. Everyone you mentioned has head and shoulders proved to be better than Darnold, and none of them had the 4-5 season struggle Darnold has. Zach Wilson, Mac Jones are better comparisons than the 3 u listed. “I guess that makes them bottom of the league starters” your words, i think Tlaw and Murray are below average, but how those names came up to you is hilarious.
