Note I was posted for several decades in Kashmir, hence, fell in love with her people, culture, language, history, etc. Who would not? I can mention with the highest degree of confidence that Kashmiri Saffron (in native Kashmiri it is referred to as Kong) is not only the best on this planet but this strain is indigenous to Kashmir. It much be mentioned though majority people in the Valley are indigenous Kashmiris there are other tribes too who are non-Kashmiri. All genuine Kashmiris (Muslims and Pandits) are Central Asian Aryans and most have now converted to a Semitic religion Islam. The main tribes in Kashmir are, the Kashmiris, Pahari people, nomadic seasonal Gujjars (cow buffalo herdsmen), the Sikhs, Boatman (Hanjis), Wattals (referred to also as Sheikhs, they are the scavengers). The boatman that is the Hanjis are a non-Kashmiri tribe which converted to Islam. They are talented businessmen and pick up foreign languages extremely rapidly. These Wattals are recent arrivals and all also follow Islam. They are often very dark. The govt. has still not done much to aid them. If Mahatma Gandhi observed how these people are treated in the Valley he would be in tears. The Sikhs are very recent arrivals (non-Kashmiri) and arrived from the Punjab and Jammu. They are respected and speak a dialect of Punjabi. There are no Kshatriya (Rajput) Sikhs or Jat-Sikhs, etc. settled in the Valley. Batkha Dutt is busy with the wonderful-kind boat-people (Hanjis).

I'm sure schooling was a task in the 90s and 2000s but the absence of debate and difference of opinion or the lack of that shows how poorly evolved they are! It's a great place to get investment. Can be developed on the lines of Istanbul. After the smart city project it has changed on the outside atleast. Alas the Kashmiris are very insecure of outside investment. They don't have money themselves. The rich Kashmiri would rather put their money elsewhere than in Kashmir cuz they don't believe in the possibility of long term peace. It's a conundrum. Tourism is the greatest mover. Can provide jobs for all. It's unfortunate that India isn't able to use any of this for development, credit goes to it's poor human resources. Misguided and emotional.

There were huge mature Chinar, Deodhar & Willow trees . In many parts traditional old houses could be seen. All this has been changing in the last few decades. Worse as tourism increases , trash can be seen all over --- plastic bottles, chips packets & plenty other litter .

From the entire video almost everyone said sabse bada mudda is jobs/employment. How would jobs be created without investment, either internal or external. Would the Kashmiris be comfortable letting outsiders (aka non Kashmiri Muslim) invest in tourism and allied business. I think the average kashmiri is very sentimental about their identity and dont want it touched a bit, which helps the politicians scavenge on it and let the economy stagnate.
