There is this cultural difference that Western people take their personal info very private or even confidential such as age, weight, family and etc. Asking these without knowing the person well or being close to the person is considered rude and offensive whereas in the Asian culture it is generally much more relaxed. People ask about some personal things because they care about you or trying to build a closer bond.

What a disappointment... She skyrocketed the rating for the show, killed every performance... played not one or 2 instruments but many, the languages the variety of talent and she valued the Chinese culture more than any singer they brought to the show... she worked so hard to perfect the language, and they repay her by that... what an insult to the media and to the Chinese people... I am disgusted... if it was a bigger name, clearly they won't have the balls to mess with her (the thing they did with Jessy J) ... I really hope no international talented singer will accept your invitation for the coming seasons
