The Rose Parade is 5.5 miles long and the flute player in the rear on the far right has an artificial leg from the knee down. She is my hero. Whenever I think something is too difficult, I think of her and her determination. Her name is Hitomi and she is an inspiration to her bandmates.

Yes, she is. She's a Sweet Heart. Look for her in the 2019 Kyoto City Fire Brigade Band as a " Fire Angel " Color Guard Member. Look for her in the 2020 Tournament of Roses Parade Green Band Association Band. She marches on the opposite side of the road. Last Rank, first file. This Sweet Heart has " Energy, Smiles & Dreams " I wish for her Good Health, Good Fortune & Happiness.

The Rose parade is about 5 1/2 miles of continuous marching, playing, and dancing!! No other bands even attempt to dance the entire route. Amazing!

We were there at the grandstand by the tv cam and yes, they're so amazing. For me, they are the main attraction in the parade. In fact they have set the standard so high. We would like to see them again or perhaps grant the opportunity to sponsor a couple members on their next reappearance at the Rose Parade in 2024.

They march 5.5 miles is how long the Parade Route is. It takes about an hour and a half for them to finish.

I truly believe that the Tachibana SHS Band is the best band in the world and they are utterly fantastic. No band here in the USA can play and dance like they do. Tachibana SHS Band deserves to play at the Olympics. They are a true Gold Medal Band!!!

Hi Kris, your reaction to this video is special. As kogayshiro has said" the sweat, tears " and blood loss are real. I've seen the videos. This Tournament of Roses Parade is 5.5 miles or 9 kilometers. You may have noticed the child carrying the " Green Band Association " green flag. Marching behind her is Professor Hisachi Hiramatsu, who as you mentioned founded this band. He is seen here celebrating his 83rd Birthday by marching with the Band he helped to bring to life. Professor Hiramatsu passed away last month March 13, 2021. He will be missed.

Hmmm, the Tachibana is a wild Mandarin Orange that grows in the Kyoto area. They have their " Lucky Uniforms "; which are orange colored. The Band participates in many in music competitions. Sometimes some of their competitors began to call them " Orange Devils " after they won many competitions. Dark Knights you are correct. They all are " Orange Angels. d:)

This is one of the two nationally televised annual parades in the US. The current active band was augmented with about 85 alumnae for a total of 200 members.

I understand that they were also at the Atlanta Georgia US Olympics. Actual number att the parade was about 107 current high school students plus about 90 alumni. Total close to 200. Think of being out of school for two or three years and then picking up the insturments and learning steps for music added since you graduated and the alumni had a lot of work too. Distanc 9 km.

I've been led to believe that their Orange Uniform is considered to be a lucky uniform. They on occasion wear their " Happi " Uniform, mostly to Hawaii. They have also, dabbled in a Blue Uniform with two vertical Gold Stripes. In 2019-2020 a company called AVEN gave the 116th, 117th, 118th Term Band White Uniforms to help Kalen Ansai promote the upcoming baseball season, I think. It was like a beautiful public service announcement. There are two video versions, the band alone and supporting the Kalen Ansai Band.

Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School Band is one of the best performing high school bands in the world. You hit the jack pot if you're going to react to them, they have a huge fan base all over the world.
