The tune Think is extremely dynamic and USA audiences will love it. It is so well done perhaps it should be longer. The very last note played with the tune is amazing. Great choice. 👏👏🤠

Kyoto Tachibana SHS Marching Brass Band World’s Best Entertaining and today’s performance similarly to the 2018 ROHM Festival because of the scenery and the performance
First let me say that I am totally blown away by this video. New dynamic tunes add tremendous choreography. It is totally amazing that these young people can learn all this stuff has extracurricular activity. The other amazing thing is they gave this great performance on a small stage and yet they pulled it off. Great musicianship. I have to say that it's almost unbelievable what does young physicians have accomplished. Amazing 👏👏

The size of the stage here is a typical size. The students in the Point Staff mark and measure the venue prior to the performance so that members know their positions and marks. The students in Marching Composition Staff arrange the set list and choreography for every performance. Marching Comp is comprised of DM, CG Leader, and Section Leaders. Although Marching Coach Shima-san (former member Mentapu) provides advice, the students make all the decisions. Section Leaders are then responsible for drilling and developing their respective sections.

Greetings from the good ole USA! I have really enjoyed these bands since stumbling across them on youtube. Is this something that every school in Japan does? Do they have competitions? It is obvious that the young people really work hard to prepare. Thanks for posting this video!

All students from elementary to high school participate in an after school club activity of their choosing. Common club activities include baseball, volleyball, football, archery, calligraphy dance, and marching band. Although KT SHS has garnered international recognition, many Japanese junior & senior high schools field very respectable, high calibre marching bands. Matsue CHS, Izumo BHS, Seika GHS, Mito GHS, Waseda Setsuryo, and Toho are just a few you can find on YT. Schools "compete" yearly in the Kansei and Kanto regional All Japan marching contests, which culminates in the All Japan competition. KT SHS is in the Kansei region, and has advanced to All Japan and earned gold in the last two years. Japanese school marching bands also participate in numerous festivals like Bandfest, Brass Band of 3000 (discontinued last year), Beppo Parade Festival, Garasha Festival, and the one you see here in this video.

Many Japan schools do similar performances but this Kyoto Tachibana high school band is considered the best band in the world by many people whether it's high school or college. These high school students do work hard. They practice year-round often over seven hours per day and take only about five days off each year and their great performances show their dedication. There is an annual all-Japan marching contest and the band has won the gold medal three years in a row and aiming for the fourth later this year. In addition to marching, the band also does sit down performances as well. They were so good they were invited to Taiwan to perform for the president in 2022 and again last year. Last August the band was selected by the Newsweek magazine as being one of the hundred best regarded Japanese from Japan. In late December they will be traveling to California to participate at the Rose Parade in Pasadena on January 1st and that will be their third appearances in this event. Watch for them. Like you, many people stumbled upon them on KZbin and instantly became lifetime fans and simply keep watching their videos. It's like a disease without a cure. Some of their videos get over fifty million views. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqqyhH-GprWip5Y

Bellesogne wrote a great summation of the various school club activities and gave good credit to several bands that are of note in Japan.👍 I would contend that Kyoto Tachibana was the pioneer in Japan for this style of performance of incorporating marching band and music with coreography. For that we must always hold in memorium and honor Professor Hiramatsu who was the founder and first director of the band in what was originally the Kyoto Tachibana Girls Senior HS. Again, there are definately some great other noteworthy HS bands out there. Where KT SHS really rises above is the perfection and professionalism of BOTH their incredibly mature sound, dynamic sensativity and intonation coupled with very difficult and precise coreography. In addition to the recent three years (2021-22-23) being the Gold winners in the All Japan Championships, that Bellesogne mentioned, KT SHS also won Gold in 2009 and 2015. (Take a look them here): m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2a9qHpqnLeLY8k&pp=ygUqc2luZyBzaW5nIHNpbmcga3lvdG8gdGFjaGliYW5hIGhpZ2ggc2Nob29s With the recent three consecutive wins, I know there are prayers and much antisipation for a 4th consecutive win this year!! A lot of pressure... but they will shine🧡💛 They were fantastic in today's performance and already exhibiting a noticeable improvement from their first march recently. Looking like a bright year ahead!! And welcoming KT to the US for the 2025 Rose Parade🧡💛🧡💛🧡💛🧡

@@Bleauwolf2 Don't forget the Gold in 2021! They are hoping for a 4th consecutive win this year. They won National Silver awards in 2007, 2011 & 2014 and National Gold awards in 2008, 2009, 2015, 2021, 2022 and 2023. There are bands that are arguably better than KT - some that win National Gold every year - but none that have the same magic and the same ability to capture hearts.
