Personally failed to understand the logic behind the policy of sub-divided flat in Hong Kong. It looks the Hong Kong government is not going to address the root causes of sub-divided flat, instead of damage control in its best. It is easy to blame those landlords are too greedy and heartless, but who is responsible party in creating this social issue; my finger is pointing to Hong Kong government policies. Sub-divided property were existed and popular in Hong Kong before but was largely addressed with public housing policy. Why it is coming back and getting worse after 1997. In recent years, every time I heard the Hong Kong government claimed how good the Hong Kong economy is performed, I did have the wrench feeling. Legally accepting sub-divided flat in a so called "well-developed city", what a great story to tell!
