往復405Kmの旅です。
今回は、始点の出雲市神立交差点から立久恵峡の手前の谷合地区まで行きます。
国道184号は、島根県出雲市から広島県尾道市までの総延長136.8Kmの一般国道です。
陰陽連絡路道の一つで、山陰地方の島根県出雲市と山陽地方の広島県尾道市を結んでいます。島根県大田市の石見銀山（大森）より算出された銀を尾道の港に運んだ道である、石見銀山街道と重複しています。
国道184号には、鉄道の廃線跡を転用して建設された箇所があります。
出雲市内では一畑電気鉄道立久恵線（非電化、1965年（昭和40年）廃止）、尾道市内では尾道鉄道（電化、1964年（昭和39年）廃止）の廃線跡を転用して建設されました。1つの国道路線で、2社の廃線跡を転用したのは国道184号だけです。

It is a round trip of 251mi.
This time, we will travel from the starting point, Kamitate intersection in Izumo city, to the Tanigai area, just before Tachikue Gorge.
National Route 184 is a general national highway with a total length of 85ml from Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture to Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture.
It is one of the Yin-Yang connecting roads, connecting Izumo City in Shimane Prefecture in the San'in region and Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture in the Sanyo region. It overlaps with the Iwami Ginzan Highway, which is the road that carried silver produced from the Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine (Omori) in Ota City, Shimane Prefecture to the port of Onomichi.
National Highway 184 was built in some places on the site of abandoned railway lines.
In Izumo city it was built on the site of the Ichibata Electric Railway Tachikue Line (non-electrified, abolished in 1965 (S40)), and in Onomichi city it was built on the site of the Onomichi Railway (electrified, abolished in 1964 (S39)).
National Highway 184 is the only national highway that has repurposed the site of two abandoned railway lines.
