I have to give it to the devs, I think Joel is one of the smartest moves any dev team has ever done for a multiplayer game. It makes the entire aspect of the game being "live service" actually meaningful, because it enables the developers to create a whole organic narrative with the players like one big tabletop campaign. It makes the whole game essentially players vs devs in a really fun and interesting way, and I've not seen that before.

One good way to fight players is to mix it up. Some higher end missions just straight up spam drop mooks that continuously fire and charge. Here's the funny part, most players will have stratagems meant almost solely for combating bigger threats... but those threats never show up.

Helldivers 2 pulled off what we all have been wishing for since multiplayer in video games hit its stride. We were unabke to articulate and out it into words but this is exactly what we always wanted. And while just tryjng to develop a fun awesome game, arrowhead possibly by accident or possibly on purpouse created the exact game formula every single person who ever played a coop game with any kind if combat wished for. If they did this intentionally and purpousfully then there is trully genius level game designers working at that studio. The best part is you never feel like you are missing out. You have to be away from the game for a period of time cuz of things like work or vacation? Thats ok, soldiers do go home to theyr familys from time to time. You can jump back in at any time after an extended leave and feel like youv never left. Battlepasses are forever as far as we know, and armours in the super store will xycle back around so dont worry if you miss an option during a certain time period. And the best part is we are all constantly excited for what will come next. What kind of surprise will the war throw at us?!? Anything could happen when there is an active game master in the background.
