Just started watching you today and thought- me too- j pouch soul sister! I had colorectal cancer stage 2 and have had my j pouch 3 years. It is an ongoing journey that changes daily. My work around is to drink lots of water, eat healthy and find love and joy daily cause it can wear you out! I’m an ice skater, mom and work full time so I know you will do well. My goal is to not just live but to THRIVE. My best to you in your journey 🤗

I had a Parkes Pouch Procedure over 30 years ago and when my wife suffered from gastric reflux the Doctor we saw explained acidic foods to her and the light switch went on in my head. I have not had coffee for 30 years and drink 3 liters of water a day to be hydrated. Judo, karate and motorcycle riding (burpees and exercise wheel for my gut) is for fun and hiking. A Vogel multiforce Alkaline powder once a month and probiotics once a week and life is a blast.

EXCELLENT INFO HERE . Miss Rose nailed it in 20 mins. ( I was J-Pouched In 2011) The Bidet is a must ....101% I also had the Devil tears poop too . (OMG the hell of that.) My Doc saved me with a RX powder called "cholestyramine" that you mix in 2-6 oz. of water twice a day ......it has helped me big time , also A&D ointment is helpful when needed. I rediscovered bike riding ... that too has helped quite a bit . As far as the dating thing go's , just be up front with it . Pacing out when and what I eat helps to ... I run heavy equipment for a living and can't be using to Blue Space Shuttle ( toilet ) a lot .....especially in the winter ( burr ) That being said .... the J-pouch was the right thing for my life style . Snow / water skiing is ruff with an ostomy . Most of all try to keep a positive attitude .... take care of yourself and things will plane out . I too would be happy to offer any support to any of you going down this J-pouch road , feel free to hit me up ! Lastly : All of you ( and Miss Rose) who post these videos for us ..... THANK YOU SO MUCH ! Good Luck all !

Thats AMAZING that you don't have to take Metamucil....I've had my jpouch since 1998 and I was told to take it to help binde my stools if I don't take it my stools would be straight watery stools which = buttburn. So what a Blessing it is that you take nothing. Thanks for sharing I look forward to more videos so I subbed to you.🤗

Jeneen Wilson thank you! And thanks for watching! I'm thankful I've been pretty lucky to not have to take Metamucil. The only time I get watery is if I eat something like dairy. OR Missions new gluten free flour tortillas. 🙄 boy, those killed me!

Wow, only 4 times a day sounds great to me. I went the ileostomy route because I was concerned with still having forceful evacuations and having to still go 10X a day. I am still going maybe 7-10 a day but there is no pain or forcefulness anymore. They always say either way that life gets better and a few months in it seems true. Somethings you say sound like they could be better for me. Thanks for the honest talk.

First few week where bad because I never knew how to empty the pouch fully and would get bad gas pains... but now 4 month after takedown I only go to the toilet twice a day and I don't have to get up during the night. Life with a J-Pouch is good man . Hopefully it will get better for you

Just had my takedown 5 weeks ago I’m 36 And this was the last of the 3 surgeries This has been the hardest most psychological hardship so far. I’ve tried everything I feel like the only thing that works is painkillers lomotil and Imodium 4 times a day. I hope these issues subside otherwise I’m going permanent stoma. This buttburn and lack of sleep from bowel movements is hard. I’m reading these comments and it appears it never goes away at least with the pouch I could eat what I wanted idk help me!!!!

666newcastle hey! I’m sorry you’re going through that! Your metabolism will eventually slow down to match your digestive system so you’re not going as much. Also you really need to look at what you eat. That was the thing that solved most my problems. Cheese or any kind of dairy really, makes my output runny and non stop. I become a poop machine. So I cut that out. I also found out nuts (except peanuts) no matter what form they’re in (butters, mills, raw) are the most painful thing I can ever do to my booty. It makes me swollen so I’m constantly having to go since I can’t get everything out in one sitting. AND it feels like shards of glass coming out of me. I don’t know if it’s an enzyme thing or what. So I cut those out as well. There’s some other things but I found those were my main problem. What you eat is everything. It sucks not being able to eat like the rest of the world. But I’m fine sacrificing those things so I can feel normal. Everything also gets better with time. I now only get up on e in the middle of the night and sometimes not at all!

I just had my reversal done two weeks ago . I'm still trying to get used to the jpouch. I lost 25lbs I just hope i gain my weight back. I'm wondering did you lose weight and if so how long did it take for you to gain it back?
@rosierosehealth3138

Erika Vazquez don’t worry! You will! Your metabolism has to adjust. Your metabolism is still going it’s normal rate for a full digestive system...when you now only have HALF a digestive system. So things are going through you way too fast right now. Absorption is hard. Your metabolism WILL adjust. I ate a little meat with every meal to slow things down. It probably took me 4 months to gain my weight back!
