These are great videos. When I had this done (a long time ago) there were very few communities, resources or education for me. The problems I encountered…no one new what to do. Congrats on being a colorectal surgeon. That is amazing. ❤🎉

I had this surgery 5 years ago for FAP & begged my surgeon to perform it in 1 stage. She said it has to be done in 2 stages, & how right she was.

How gas it worked out for you? I may need the same thing done for the same reason and I am quite worried. Particularly about how many bowel movements there may be in a day and pain.

@@jonathanmiller5232i had this done. One of the early ones 25 yrs ago (which immediately failed) but then revised a yr later by another doc and turned out great. Do it in 2 stages! Definately. I was incontinent a lot of the time and always at night for the first 1.5 yrs but slowly improved. It does get better. And in my case I wake up if get too much pressure, or start to leak. One funny thing is I often have dreams where I’m searching for a restroom because I have to go to the bathroom, so bad, and what’s happening is I really need to wake up because I’m about to become incontinent.😂 it’s actually quite amazing what my brain has done so I don’t have accidents at all anymore ever. My dreams wake me up to tell me to get up and go to the bathroom. What turned it around was exercise (walking) then light weight lifting which progressed to regular exercise. (today I can run, ski, hike, do anything, but let me tell you I always have paper towels or tissue with me 😂) because when you gotta go, you gotta go now. After I was done with surgeries , I had trouble with weight gain for a couple years and eventually when the diet improved, weight gain occurred. (A good thing). Was acutely sick for two years. (Multiple surgeries, bowel obstructions, revisions) But…..the eventual revision Jpouch surgery saved me from having an external ileostomy. (Which was actually not bad having an ileostomy. You get used to it and it doesn’t even bother you. And it doesn’t really bother anyone else either so don’t let that be a fear). The number of BMs a a day starts high, can improve with diet, and number a day decreases over time. I can go 8 hrs without restroom, sometimes use one every two hours, depending on what I ate or inhested.

@@sawyermaitlandyour comment is a year old, but I have a pouch too. I dont get pouchitis anymore (only got in the first year post op really) Natural probiotics (from foods) is the best way to go. Even if you get just a local GI bug and are dumping water tec. You can google a list.

had one for barely five years, pouchitis plus blockages made me return to the bag, this has high failure rate if you're 50 plus,

The doctor told me that she suffers from paralysis of the entire colon. Can this operation be performed at any age? Because in my country they told me that I have to travel with it outside the country in order to tie the intestines to the anus. Please answer me.
