Your demo's are so excellent! I loved the time you devoted to Modulation and then showcasing the pedal in pure delay mode as well as the introducing us to how the "level" control works. (always on is interesting) Not sure I would want that all the time but it does sound great. The only other possible detractor I see is the physical space a pedal this size would require on my board. But on tone alone and the way you showcased it, I want one. Well done sir.

While running the Clockwork in stereo.. are you running one side into the OX and another into another amp that's miced up? I'm thinking about getting a 2nd Ox

I was using my Suhr Bella into the OX for one side and then my Revv 120mk3 for the other side. The REVV amp has the TwoNotes Captor X embedded. That worked out well but I would have preferred another OX for sure. It’s still my favorite.

Shawn, what are you thoughts in comparison to a big box DMM? Is it comparable?
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
It's really close for sure. The chips certainly need to be correct but the preamp is also really important when you're going for the true DMM sound.
@h2ophilter3 жыл бұрын
this or the new Suhr delay? your thoughts?
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you're after. The Clockwork and the Discovery both employ BBD chips. The important difference is in the preamp section of the Clockwork which is a proper version of the original DMM delay. That's a massive part of the sound of that particular delay. If you truly want the sound of a DMM then get the Clockwork. If you're more interested in just a proper BBD echo or delay then it would be hard to go wrong with the new Suhr.
@wearyhobo3 жыл бұрын
I'll be passing on this pedal. Chase Bliss released the Tonal Recall 5 years ago. The only advantage the Clockwork Echo might have is stereo outs. The Tonal Recall offers tap division, the ability to select waveforms for repeats, and much more extreme modulation. (Get the Tonal Recall RKM -- Red Knob Mod -- and you have 1100 ms in delay time.)
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
Sure, but any monkey can source some MN 3005 chips and add some features and call it a "Memory Man" but the preamp is very important and it's a huge part of the DMM sound. The Chase Bliss TR is a good delay for sure but it absolutely doesn't have the DMM preamp or sound. It's to each his or her own. There's way more to the DMM sound than just the chips or a longer delay time with some gadgets added.
@wearyhobo3 жыл бұрын
@@ShawnTubbs I hardly think Joel Korte is a 'monkey'. I own several old analog delays, including a Boss DM-2 I had when I was a kid, and an original Deluxe Memory Man. The J R Rockett ain't it. I'd encourage anyone interested in the Clockwork to plug into a current Deluxe Memory Man 550-TT for comparison and save $115.
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
@@wearyhobo Ok so now it's the MM 550-TT as opposed to the Tonal Recall? How did you come to that conclusion? I thought this conversation was about the Clockwork and the Tonal Recall? Joel Korte is brilliant so don't turn this into something it isn't. There are a lot of BBD delays and echoes out there and none of them are bad and to that end, many of them including the Tonal Recall are brilliant because of the added features but, as I mentioned before, the preamp section of the DMM is a huge part of the sound and it is not easy or inexpensive to duplicate. Congrats if you still have your original DMM and DM-2. Oh, and yes the 550-TT is good and it is indeed a less expensive alternative to the Clockwork but you get what you pay for.
@wearyhobo3 жыл бұрын
@@ShawnTubbs If a preamp is your big selling point, I do own a Catalinbread Belle Epoch Deluxe ($359.99) and it's preamp definitely warrants recognition as being a tone tool in an of itself. Yes, it's digital, but damn it sounds good!
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
@@wearyhobo I'm not trying to sell you anything, Daniel. I simply stated the difference between the Tonal Recall and the Clockwork. The Clockwork has the DMM preamp. The Tonal Recall doesn't. The Belle Epoch and the MM-550 TT are great. It boils down to what is important to the player.
@chrishepburn15033 жыл бұрын
I thought I was going to get this delay until I saw the new Suhr Discovery Delay.
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I guess it boils down to the preamp section. If you're really after the sound of a DMM, the preamp sound is a big part of it along with the BBD chips. If you're just after the BBD sound, Discovery might be a good choice.

@romainbertrand2533 жыл бұрын
@@tmunday7270001475143 Hi Todd. I can deal with advertising. I like information. I don't like when advertising pretend to be information. I don't see love for this pedal in this video. I see a guy who receive a free pedal, perhaps some money, reading the script written by the brand and pretending all this are his own words. Far away from a fair and real review. I will never buy a pedal based on such video. But OK, that just my opinion. Best from France.
@djt65462 жыл бұрын
I find the cool thing about these product demos is you can often get new ideas for using/dialling gear you already own. Sure you might be drawn in to buy some new gear sometimes because of what you like and hear, but if you find it too much just take a break from such content. Try TPS channel for inspiration within a concept rather than just a product demo.
@timothymallon3 жыл бұрын
Not to criticize your video, but the first 5 seconds in, I realized I wasnt going to get a proper demo of the pedal. You really cant put together an entire ensemble and expect anyone to truly understand how the pedal works on it's own. It's like showing someone what blue looks like when you add red and show them purple.
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. It's an 18-minute video so if you checked out at the 5-second mark, I'm probably the wrong channel for you. There are other demo vids of this pedal that might be more intuitive for you. Check out, Pete Thorn or Mike Hermans.
