Hello there. It's not too suprising - as Rock Music is the 20h century's way in which classical music survived and thrived - the work of the Beatles, Queen and of course Metallica is the proof, in that all of their music is eminently playable by classical orchestra with ease. Not so much most pop music...look for "The Beatles Go Baroque" on KZbin and Spotify and enjoy !

For those interested in the animated movements of the musicians, if you notice, there is no director as is common with chamber and small ensembles. The musicians find themselves moving more as visual cues for the other musicians to help keep time.

I've noticed that, in general, orchestral musicians don't move around nearly as much as *some* soloists, perhaps because they don't have the physical room to do so. I agree with the comments about Steger. His movements say, loud and clear, "Look at me!"

tbh I don't think the Brandenburg Concertos were particularly well received in their day, they certainly didn't earn Bach the position he was looking for. In fact, they may have gone entirely unplayed for nearly 100 years
@speedy37024 жыл бұрын
@@NeaonBHB I think the problem with the Brandenburg Concerto was that Bach didn't send them to the right person. I read somewhere that the receiver apparently lacked the proper musicians who wouldn't be able to play those concertos. So it ended unused. At that time, a lot depended on the music being exposed to the right people at the right time. But that was not always the case for Bach, so ended up being a relatively underrated composer during his life time.

Now I have to write a long comment...sorry. Did you notice at 4:06 Maurice gave his music stand a little POKE with his knee? I suspect that many missed that because it went by so quickly. I also suspect that all that swinging around may have brought the sheet music close to tumbling to the floor. (Amazing how a human being can do two things at the same time. LOL.) Anyway, the tempo was breathtaking. And their technic was so much in control that they could concentrate on matching each other and even the entire ensemble. And the articulation was crystal clear. My CD is on Philips and I believe that the violinist is Henry Szerynig. (sorry about the spelling). That one is a great one and it has accompanied me on many long trips in my car. So I know this concerto as well as I know the Mozart Horn Concertos !!! But this one makes me want to get up and dance. I guess you get the point. PS. "Cappella" is a wonderful name and she kept up with him without missing a beat.
@flecheprimitive Жыл бұрын
The "poke" with the knee wasn't there for the music stand but to cover the bell of his recorder to reach that particular note.... some notes need to cover the bell hole of the recorder.
