You would not believe the amount of air it takes to move a single note. In one concert I had not eaten lunch. After the set was over the bass player had to catch me because I almost fell over.

I never thought of what is the right hand in the original Cembalo score as a Duett. Can't unhear it now. Beautiful! You play so well together that one could think that one is actually listening to one single musician playing a beautiful organ with wooden pipes. But of course the phrases are articulated with such beautiful sounds which only individual instruments can achieve.

I'm listening to the playlist of the complete Variations, and it is a luminously lovely performance. When really good recorder players take over a work for other instruments they can make it sound as if it was written for them, and that is what happens here. But I do have a problem with recording quality. The variations done as video -- the Aria twice, and 28 and 30 -- have a beautiful mellow balance. The others seem to me, listening with the computer hooked up to a good hi-fi system, to be too close-miked and harsh, with breath and finger noise which would not be apparent to the audience in a real-life performance. This can be mitigated to some extent by turning the treble down a lot, but even then the middle-range instruments are a bit lost, and anyway in today's world of total recording control it should have been sorted out with a preliminary sound test. I'd like to buy some CDs of the performance as presents but am worried about the sound balance on them, especially between the variations recorded in different surroundings. Has this been sorted out?

Oh my god so beautiful..i am learning this on my flute, but rythmically it is soo hard i cant count in this piece the 3/4 its so hard but its so beautiful and the way you play it is amazing, it s so different from piano! My mum is a piano teacher but she s never played the goldberg variations

Das Arrangement ist ganz traumhaft und hätte Bach sicher gefallen. So sanft, gerade in dieser schon an sich sanften Aria. Es gibt auch ein Arrangement für klassische Gitarre, was auch sehr sanft und schön ist.
