It was an amazing experience for me to analyze this Eb Invention and discover the absolute balance and equality in Bach's construction of these two concurrent and alternating voice dialogues. Your words mean a great deal to me, ... thank you so much! Best wishes to you.

As mentioned in my comments on other videos, coming back to your channel as I work through my next invention... on to number 5! Today is my second viewing of this video...the first was about 5 weeks ago after a a few hands separate readings. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and clarity in expressing Bach’s details.

@@SallyChristianMusic Hello Ms. Sally Christian I thank you for taking the time to answering me. I shall persevere with this one and the others and I deeply appreciate your structural analyses. Your technique is flawless but beyond that you are so musical. You really play thesd Inventions of the supreme musical master J.S.Bach very cantabile . You are a very gifted musician and a really superb teacher. I would appreciate any exercise books which you could recommend for improving technique although the Inventions are an extremely good source for technique because they are real music. May you and your loved ones have a blessed Thanksgiving and holiday season with the blessings of God . I humbly thank you for your dedication .

@@mickspencer Hello Mick, I am very touched by your generous and thoughtful words about the videos, CSA analyses, and the playing. 🙏Thank you also for mentioning playing "cantabile." Bach asks us to do this in his Preface, so we should! 🎶 As far as exercise books, Hanon is always a good start. The Chopin Etudes are the ultimate as they challenge us technically while giving us the most beautiful music to play. I do a warmup of playing all the major scales in 3rds and 6ths with both hands. These are by the German pedagogue Louis Plaidy and can be found in his book "Technical Studies." They are difficult, but great for building strength and suppleness. 🎉 I wish you and your family a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving as well! 🍁

I admire the detailed, comprehensive analysis you have in this video. Your structural and melodic analysis painted this piece in an entirely new light for me. The analysis on the step-wise bass motion (e.g. the Bb-Ab-G-F sequence in the bass of measures 21-23) in particular convinced me of the latent expressive potential in the piece. I teared up a little midway not only from seeing how much you obviously admire and enjoy this music, but also in seeing you give a convincing explanation as to why we should enjoy it too. This was a wonderful experience. Thank you very much.

Hello John, wow, ... thank you so much for your wonderful and eloquent words about this lesson! It means a great deal to me to hear that you benefitted from the analysis as well as from experiencing the enthusiasm I feel for this piece! I practiced this Invention No. 5 working and changing the fingerings for over two years until it felt comfortable and reliable in my hands. Being able to then play the hands alone fluently for memory brought great joy both intellectually and viscerally. Thank you for your beautiful tribute which I will appreciate for many years to come! With all best wishes to you.

Would you be so kind as to consider putting all the JS Bach interventions from 1- 8 on a separate playlist on your channel. Nr 1 - 8 is part our grade 6 music theory exam. If you have it on a playlist, then I can listen to it and let it loop, even while I sleep.
