If you want to know what it (really) should sound like, have a listen at the interpretation of the late Gustav Leonhardt on harpsichord. His “interpretation” is closest to taking the musician out of the equation, IMHO. The result is listening to pure music. If you’re not familiar with harpsichord, you might have to get used to that, though. Some people, like me, are hooked in an instant, others never get the hang of it. All in all, this (her) interpretation, on piano(!), comes very close to ideal. Almost, almost(!), no personal interpretation, just letting the music flow. That is how it should be. Very good. I want to listen to more of her, to see (hear) how she plays the other pieces. I can only hope for more like this.

Wow, the emotion evoked in the phrasing! Moving, but still subtle enough to never overwhelm the overall rhythm that remains highly structured. This way, the essence of baroque music is retained. I've played the guitar arrangement of a different prelude years ago, but that advice on retaining the baroque soul of the piece still stayed with me. Thanks for sharing this performance !

Eventhough I will always prefer the harpsichord interpretation over a piano for Bach's pieces, I agree with al of those that stated that you played it marvellously! Instead of trying to imitate a harpsichord with a piano and/or channel Franz Lizst playing Bach, you just hit "the notes at the right time", as Bach himself used to say, and the beautiful music showed itself. Bravo!

Honestly, I normally prefer the harpsichord, and by a long stretch, but this I will have to listen to a few more times. Not to see whether I like it, but because I like it. I hope your interpretations of the other pieces are similarly good. Will find out soon. Please keep performing like this. This is how it should be done, IMHO.

Glenn Gould never had the exclusive rights to play Bach. Yes, he was, and probably is, unique in a sense, but not in a way that gave him “the exclusive rights”. I can see were you come from though. Once you’ve heard something a certain way, it’s very, very hard to unhear it. Other interpretations, no matter how good they are, will then always seem less than the way you heard it the first time.

@@alexdoesntlikeyoutubethatmuch Techically impressive and flawless too. But it also leaves little room voor expression (volume wise). kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJSpeaiLf6pjo7c like this. Personally I am not quite in favor of the mathematical school/approach to Bach. Bach must have loved music so I generally like the versions with swing/emotion in it better. But this is nonetheless impressive!

@@peregrin71 well i find beauty in the strict way of playing bach (with every note strictly separated with equal amount of time like a harpsichord) it can easily sound messy otherwise

Швейная машинка. Впервые вижу столь сосредоточенное исполнение. Такое ощущение, будто пианистка создаёт что-то самостоятельно и ей неизвестно, чем это закончится, но результат непременно должен превзойти все ожидания.
