I tried to fit the joints of the corner pillars and horizontal members in an impossible way.
Many people see this and think that only the tip of the tenon is embedded later.
But it actually goes through. It makes me think for a moment.
Rather than a design, it is a playful joint.

I too was wondering what the felt tip black marks meant. I would never have guessed how this was put together. Thank you

This is beautiful work! One thing I’m extremely curious about: what do all the various types of marks made with a marker mean? If you could at least tell me what you call those marks I can Google for answers. They look highly useful!

Thank you for watching. The parts marked with markers are the parts to be cut off. As you can see, I accidentally put the marker in the wrong place. So, if you're confused, it's my mistake. It's my first attempt, so I wasn't able to organize it well in my head. Thank you for your comment.

@@kameuchikohsho-9307 so what’s the difference between an angled slash, a u-shape, and a straight line?

What are these marks, collectively, called?

@@roberthahn8555 An angled slash is often used in places where it can be seen in advanced Japanese architecture, as it is difficult to see the joint position. In addition, it is difficult for gaps to form later when a load is applied. I'm not sure what you mean by a u-shape, but it's probably a design. I think a straight line is the most common cut. Thank you.
