Thanks Teacher Shen, Bob and Sam - for this lovely interview where importance of preparing financially and mentally for retirement. I am working on it.
Everyone should start saving and planning for financial independence from their first paycheck duh...

Most Asian learned to save money as a good habit. But we usually don't plan for retirement in details.

Perhaps working less is an alternative? As in somewhere in the middle, between working and retirement. May be we could have this implemented? The elderly who is around 40 work 4 days full hours a week. 50 years, 4 days 6 hours per day. 60 years 3 days 5 hours a day. Just an idea. But one need to have things planned ahead, cause salary (pro rata ) would be less.

Lovely idea ...if employers are open to this - some of us will be delighted.

@@JackHuang-on2ce this is actually practiced in the Netherlands. A lot of just-retired people still work 2 or 3 days a week to keep the momentum for the first few years. And then reduce the hours gradually till full time retirement. This helps to adopt the retirement a bit easier, I guess.

I think if you like your job, it's a very good idea. If you're too old to work on your job, you would want to retire completely when you could. So I guess, it's very personal.

也要有另一半一起過有趣的生活啦。如果只一個人,52歲退休可能會很無聊。

我不想活超過五十五歲,就不會遇到這問題⋯⋯⋯

Taiwan is officially called ROC. So it is part of China based on the international law. Just for Americans edu purpose. Lol

I don't think there is an "international law" about this issue. Taiwan is not a part of United Nation, yes. US "acknowledged" Chinese claim, not agreed. Well, I guess it's open for interpretations.
