As a Slytherin when I was taking the test for second time I answered some questions based on " Owww , thats a very Slytherin thing to do " or " I picked this answers for that question last time and it came as Slytherin " The thing is i wasn't trying to con it . I tried my best to not. I just did . For no reason . 😂 Also no , it is not considered as coning because i didn't do it intentionally . I just thought that this is the right answer bc it's Slytherin . Actually, trying to alter (predict) the outcome of a game by controlling the outcome is a Ravenclaw thing. Slytherin wouldn't care less being in Slytherin which is an Slytherin thing. A Ravenclaw just proved that the sorting hat can be outplayed. Well done.

A Slytherin, however, would take advantage of the knowledge that the game could be influenced and then influence it. The idea that sneakiness or cheating is a Slytherin trait is kind of a myth to be honest, the house stands for Ambition, Determination and Leadership. A Slytherin wouldn't try to cheat the sorting hat to get what they want, they would simply be so confident Slytherin is where they belong that no other option would even cross their minds. Like J. Ben was so nervous that he wouldn't get put in Slytherin he felt he had to try to cheat to get there, which proves he isn't a Slytherin by nature at all.

You wouldn’t be able to “con” the sorting hat, it’s telepathic and knows the truth of your personality as soon as you put it on. The only way to emulate the sorting hat experience and find out what house you actually belong in is by answering completely honestly in the quiz.

In Harry's case, he was resourceful and ambitious, _and_ he was courageous and honourable, so his choice was enough to tip the scales. If he had asked to be in, say, Ravenclaw- then I think the hat would have refused him. Like I said, the only way to properly emulate the Sorting Hat experience on Pottermore is to answer the test truthfully.

Ben is me when Pottermore first went live. I’m Slytherin and was afraid I’d get Ravenclaw, so I tried “to con it”. I succeeded. Did the test honestly a few months later and got Ravenclaw. But now, I’m consistently getting Slytherin (no con). No identity crisis for me anymore

ive gotten every house at least once lol. i think it sort of depends what mindest and stage of life you are in when you take it. but ive always just stuck with the first sorting i got, and its been my most consistent result anyways. you guys have inspired me to take it again, the phone version with the hat looks cute

I"ve changed so much over the years that I went from being a Ravenclaw to a Hufflepuff because I now care more about family and those I love than education and knowledge. In other words, people change, and that's okay.

Same goes with me. First time I did the test I was 13 and got Ravenclaw and stuck with it for 7 years. Now that Im 20 I need to admit that I'm a Gryffindor and taking the quiz three times has showed me that and friends who've known me since then told me I've lost my Ravenclawness. They do indeed sort too early as Dumbledore said.
